Saturday, November 7, 2009. Silver Tide Halloween Practice! On Saturday October 31 Silver Tide held a team practice with the entire club from Junior Development to the Senior group. This was a great team bonding experience for our crew and an excellent opportunity to get some technical help from the senior swimmers. Saturday: Dryland 10-10:30, Swim 10:45-11:45. Monday: Dryland 5:15-5:45, Swim 6-7. Saturday: Swim 8:45-9:45, Dryland 10-10:30. Sunday, November 9, 2008. A big focus in practice from now on is going to be on streamlining EVERY time you leave the wall. Take a look at this swimmers streamline. Notice how in the second picture you can see that his hands are in streamline position before they hit the water. As well, look at how his head is tucked down and he is squeezing it very tight! Monday, May 25, 2009. The focus in May has been on faster swimming with less rest. We have also been doing some backstroke work focusing on having our hips right at the surface of the water and getting our arms moving as fast as possible. We have moved away from freestyle 25s opting for 50s instead. As well, I have introduced the idea of fast 50s of backstroke. The swimmers are still trying to figure this one out! Tuesday, November 24, 2009. It has been a great first couple of months! I have been very impressed with the attendence in practice this past month. Most days we are only missing 1 or 2 swimmers. This is great to see as it is important to come to practice to learn the skills to improve your swimming and participate in swim meets! Monday, December 15, 2008. The last 10 and under series of 2008 was a great success! We had a few new swimmers from Junior Development attend the meet which was exciting for everyone! Everyone else had lots of best times. All the work we've done on dives and streamlines off the start really showed because everyones dives have improved from the meet before! The week of December 15th will be our last week of swimming until the new year. There will be regular practice times from the 16-18th.

Saturday, March 21, 2009. I was very proud of how brave everyone was in trying new events! Every swimmer either swam a 400 or 200 free and for most of you it was a new experience. Although some of us were a little nervous, everyone tried their best and finished the race. A big thank you to the Senior swimmers who came out to help! Sunday, October 19, 2008. 10 and Under Series #1. I didn't get a ribbon in all my races, but I'm happy because I still tried my best.". One of the swimmers said this today and I think it is so important that everybody comes to understand what this swimmer already knows. It is great to get best times, but that isn't always going to happen. As long as you try your best on every single race, you should still be proud of yourself! That being said.everyone did GREAT at the swim meet on Sunday! You did so well!
