Argle Bargle or Fooferall?: The Highs and Lows of the Bottom Lounge
http://mookiedaddy.blogspot.com/2009/09/highs-and-lows-of-bottom-lounge.html
Sunday, September 27, 2009. The Highs and Lows of the Bottom Lounge. Hello once again, can't believe it's almost been two months since my last update, guess it's time to do a little catching up. There were 4 bands on the lineup that night, and thankfully the show started around 5:30. Of the three opening bands, only the middle one, I believe their name was Broken Windows, was worth watching. They reminded me of Girls Against Boys, minus their whole disco rock angle, with a bit of Queens of the St...Despi...

Argle Bargle or Fooferall?: R.I.P. Grandpa Matt Pacyna
http://mookiedaddy.blogspot.com/2009/12/rip-grandpa-matt-pacyna.html
Sunday, December 13, 2009. RIP Grandpa Matt Pacyna. Unfortunately, last week we lost my grandpa Matt. He had been fighting some mysterious illnesses for a while, and in the last month, we kind of knew that the end was near for him. Thankfully, pretty much our entire family was able to get out to see him, and without directly saying so, we were able to say our goodbyes before things went completely downhill. Our trouble began when my Grandpa announced that he was going to take "a short cut" to get to the ...

Argle Bargle or Fooferall?: September 2009
http://mookiedaddy.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html
Monday, September 28, 2009. Trail of Dead/Secret Machines at Logan Square Auditorium. After the Thursday show at the Bottom Lounge two nights before, I was hoping that the Friday night show was going to get me back into the grove and make me stop feeling like an ancient old man at the shows. I headed to the Logan Square Auditorium with very high hopes, and luckily those were met. I had never heard of Pool of Frogs. On top of that, they had one of the best new performers I've seen in a while. Their dr...

Argle Bargle or Fooferall?: January 2009
http://mookiedaddy.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html
Sunday, January 25, 2009. Here she is, Princess Isabella. Tuesday, January 13, 2009. Bella's Adventures in Chicago. Trying to catch up on old pics we haven't posted. The Friday after Christmas, it was miraculously over 50 degrees somehow, so we took advantage of that and hopped on the L and headed downtown so that Bella could see all of the lights on Michigan Avenue and all that good stuff down there. Bella even made it easy on us and helped us push the stroller toward the end of the night. So that will ...

Argle Bargle or Fooferall?: June 2009
http://mookiedaddy.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html
Friday, June 26, 2009. Our Latest Concert Weekend. We decided to kick off Bella's concert season with a bang, with not one but two concerts in three days! It would have been 3 in 3 days, but we woosed out and didn't go see the Hold Steady on Sunday since we'll be seeing them in a few weeks. After a very good Fathers Day to rest, we hopped on the L Monday night and headed downtown again to see a show at the gorgeous Pritzker Pavillion in Millenium Park. There were two acclaimed indie rock bands there,...

Argle Bargle or Fooferall?: May 2009
http://mookiedaddy.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html
Tuesday, May 19, 2009. It took 2 years, but I finally finished my classwork for my Associates' degree in Engineering. At least I think I'm all done, assuming all the prerequisites are covered as they should be and all that fun stuff. I join the massive ranks of those out there who have degrees in both English and Engineering. I know, we're a dime a dozen nowadays. Lots of plans ahead in the upcoming weeks, we are more than ready for the summer ahead! Monday, May 4, 2009. Bella at Great America 2009.

Argle Bargle or Fooferall?: Best Albums of 2009 - Numbers 50 to 31
http://mookiedaddy.blogspot.com/2009/12/best-albums-of-2009-numbers-50-to-31.html
Monday, December 14, 2009. Best Albums of 2009 - Numbers 50 to 31. It was once again an excellent year for music, here’s my list of my top 50 albums for 2010, with one exception. I’ll preface the list by explaining my rules once again. I (with extremely few exceptions) will never pay more than $10 for a cd. I also don’t believe in just downloading albums/mp3’s, since this takes away a certain degree of ownership and investment in the music to me. Call me old fashioned that way I guess. It perfectly captu...

Argle Bargle or Fooferall?: Best Albums of 2009 - The Top 10
http://mookiedaddy.blogspot.com/2009/12/best-albums-of-2009-top-10.html
Thursday, December 17, 2009. Best Albums of 2009 - The Top 10. 8211; Fantasies – Emily Haines, the lead singer of Metric, pulls off the rare feat of being sexy and sensual without beating people over the head with it, like most modern female music icons (well, she kind of does in her guest appearance in the video for Julian Plenti’s “ Games For Days. Come on baby play me something/ Like 'Here Comes the Sun'"? 2 …And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead. Thanks for the link Brian), then this is not the a...

Argle Bargle or Fooferall?: Weezer/Jack's Mannequin/Motion City Soundtrack at the Aragon 12/1
http://mookiedaddy.blogspot.com/2009/12/weezerjacks-mannequinmotion-city.html
Thursday, December 3, 2009. Weezer/Jack's Mannequin/Motion City Soundtrack at the Aragon 12/1. After an actual month of November with no concerts (blame the economy), I went to the Aragon Brawlroom on Tuesday night for a show I had pretty high hopes for, which was Weezer with Motion City Soundtrack and Jack's Mannequin. Somehow, first up was Motion City Soundtrack, a band I've loved for 7 or 8 years or so now. The Minneapolis-based power pop/punk band has made some incredible songs, and are an amazin...
