BRAMPA: Mini Egg Showdown!
http://brampa.blogspot.com/2009/05/mini-egg-showdown.html
Tuesday, May 19, 2009. Helen, an ex-pat from the UK, and I shared some local mini eggs at work and were astounded and horrified to find that Cadbury's Kiwi mini eggs (properly pronounced "eeegs" here) are not the same. As the mini eggs we got back home. They were inferior! How can this be? Cadbury is the chocolate of choice for most New Zealanders. How could they change the recipe on us? Fortunately, we were saved by our loved ones who sent mini eggs from home in care packages! Hooray for care packages!

BRAMPA: July 2009
http://brampa.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html
Wednesday, July 8, 2009. While staring at the moon and admiring the colorful sky on my walk back to camp I evidentially startled a bird in the tree above me. There was a great flapping of wings and then the unmistakable sound of a bird bonking into a parked car followed by more flapping (so much flapping! This is our new brother husband burning a trashy novel in order to get the fire working. P will be famous across the land for her fairy dwellings:. This is strictly my opinion. Tuesday, July 7, 2009.

BRAMPA: December 2009
http://brampa.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html
Sunday, December 27, 2009. Boxing Day 2009 continued. Boxing Day in New Zealand is typically a shopping day similar to the day after Thanksgiving in the US. Instead of shopping we went sailing to Motuihe island. Here are some photos from our day trip. While I never really felt very Christmasy this year we did put in a small effort at decorating. I made snowflakes and P wrapped our fixtures in tinsel. Christmas morning brought Marlene and Bill! And we had a great day (it was hot! This is the before. I wan...

BRAMPA: Mini Egg Showdown, 2010!
http://brampa.blogspot.com/2010/04/mini-egg-showdown-2010_3145.html
Thursday, April 29, 2010. Mini Egg Showdown, 2010! And the Winner is. First I'd like to take a moment to thank the judges for joining the showdown. And now on to the findings. In true Miss America fashion, the third place mini egg 2010 is. The Kiwi Cadbury mini egg. Pleasing packaging. Pleasing, realistic spots on the eggs, but inferior chocolate with unusual spices (I still think I can taste cloves/cinnamon here). However it must be noted that this was B.W.'s highest ranked mini egg. Again. We would lik...

BRAMPA: Te Arai Point
http://brampa.blogspot.com/2010/04/te-arai-point.html
Thursday, April 15, 2010. Meet IB and his pet jellyfish - a blue bottle, otherwise known as the Portuguese man-o-war. He also had a pet seastar. If you ask IB what you should do if you get stung by a jellyfish he will tell you:. First, swear. Then piss yourself. Then weep quietly until help arrives. Te Arai point at sunset with some expat body boarders. Overcrowding the beach, evidently! Te Arai point. Lovely. Looks like a great place to chill out with family and friends. BRAMPA: The hegemonic hedge
http://brampa.blogspot.com/2010/04/hegemonic-hedge.html
Friday, April 2, 2010. We have a lot of hedges in our neighborhood. What can I say, we live in the burbs - it's all about peace and privacy out here. But this hedge is abnormally large. B calls it the hegemonic hedge. Maybe it doesn't look that big in the above picture, but below is the same picture but with and an added P for perspective. It's a big mama of a hedge. Here's the same hedge but looking downhill. Although small or stooped people can walk under the hedge. April 2, 2010 at 5:15 PM. I want to ...

BRAMPA: February 2010

Wednesday, February 3, 2010. Tween saves her own life in violent dawn brawl! A sneak attack on a local tween was thwarted Sunday with quick reflexes! Perseverance BrAmPa climbed out of her bed Sunday morning then woke her father by imitating a car alarm before sitting down to enjoy her breakfast with a book. The insect retreated under the dinner table where it was contained with a clear plastic bowl by her mother, much to its fury. The White Tailed Spider. Feeds on other spiders and usually only bites hu...

BRAMPA: September 2009
http://brampa.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html
Friday, September 18, 2009. Treasures from the Asian market. I love the Asian markets here. Really cheap produce. Unusual foods. Funny smells. My goal to buy at least one food I've never eaten before every time I go there. The licorice watermelon seeds weren't very good but the green tea pumpkin seeds were quite a success. B liked the aloe vera drinks, I liked the lychee and chrysanthemum. I was pretty excited about this rice and it was nice to have my desire to eat black food. Monday, September 7, 2009.
