If you fall in with the latter crowd, but cant find any fiber goodness in your area, you might want to check out your local Target. Yep, Target, the prolific purveyor of cheap dsigner-inspired home goods, has taken another formerly-niche decor item and brought it to the masses. The next set of options- the "membrane group" didn't seem aesthetically appropriate for this house. Our roof is low-slope but visible, and I thought a membrane would detract from our house (and our neighbors too). The next option was rolled asphalt roofing- I basically felt the same way about this as I felt about the membrane.

Falling in love with our mid-century ranch. Monday, January 28, 2013. Kitchen Updates- Part 2. Our drapes when they were open. We had walls of drapery when they were closed. These drapes were pinch pleated (triple pleats) and I cannot imagine how much fabric it must have taken to make these. The fabric was a nice imported linen- very high quality- although they were faded a bit at the edges on the east-facing windows. We started stripping the wallpaper- subject of another post. I was actually in Ireland on business, so I didn't witness it, but my husband said that they found full ice and water shield under the shingles. If that is true for the entire roof, then it further confirms my feelings that you shouldn't put shingles, even with full ice and water shield, on a roof pitch this low. New ice and water shield. Yay for more insulation!
