Our Midcentury Ranch

14 Week Organizing Challenge. Thursday, November 7, 2013. The Basement Saga, pt 1. This is the worst of the walls of the basement, I thought I'd start here to maintain the structural integrity. The middle of that wall complete with old sound equipment. The corner of the wall. Notice how much red clay powder gets deposited every time it floods. I believe that this big ass crack is an entry point for water. The first bit of patching I did today. The portion for tomorrow afternoon. Tuesday, October 29, 2013.

Our Midcentury Ranch: Starting out early

http://midcenturyranch.blogspot.com/2013/09/starting-out-early.html

14 Week Organizing Challenge. Friday, September 20, 2013. I started working early today. Painted the pipes and moved on past the kitchen window. Sadly the ropes on the right hand side must stay until the sump pump can have a proper hole dug. And I moved on toward the next window. Painting the wires and pipes makes a big difference. I can't believe how dingy this side of the house is. Of course there would be gardening work require to paint this side. ugh, sawing through gigantic vine things is not fun.

Our Midcentury Ranch: September 2013

http://midcenturyranch.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html

14 Week Organizing Challenge. Friday, September 27, 2013. So I got bored. As you can see the patching is barely visible now and it looks so clean. Looking good so far. Such a shocking difference between Snowcap white and beige/antique white/ick. I had planned to do half.but got out of control. The last little section. I started loosing steam around here. Nice shot of how the cabinet piece blends into the wall and ceiling. Only one little section left and all I can think about is paleo eggplant lasagna.

Our Midcentury Ranch: August 2013

http://midcenturyranch.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html

14 Week Organizing Challenge. Thursday, August 29, 2013. The top shelf is done, but needs a few touch-ups of white paint. Bottom shelf has one coat of blue, needs one more when I get home tonight. Just comparing the two, it's like night and day. I'm going to get some tension rods and make cute white/blue/tan curtains to hide the tubs and stuff. I really like the unit now. Even the water heater looks less invasive. I'm still going to put a room divider around it to make it less prominent. The damaged crac...

Our Midcentury Ranch: Evening Paint Job

http://midcenturyranch.blogspot.com/2013/09/evening-paint-job.html

14 Week Organizing Challenge. Friday, September 20, 2013. After talking with my Mom, I got motivated to paint some more this evening. I filled in the spots I had left blank. I'll be getting the ladder out tomorrow. I couldn't stop once I got going. It's seriously addicting to watch the nasty colors get covered up. It looks so normal now. Where I left off tonight. And what I have left before I reach the end of the house. Some of the rafters. Ugh It looks worse than it really is. So I got bored.

Madame Seiver sews: November 2012

http://atighterlace.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html

Costume notations of Mrs. Amy Seiver. The "REAL" Columbia Diggins. Wednesday, November 28, 2012. Cavaliers and unions suits. I'll have to try again tomorrow to get some better pictures of the union suit I made Charlie today. I still need one more button and the ones to go on his butt. He really is a lot more thrilled with it than the pictures let on. He's having a lazy day and just wants to stand still and star at me. Labels: Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. Tuesday, November 13, 2012. Meet Mrs. Seiver.

Madame Seiver sews: Will work for champagne

http://atighterlace.blogspot.com/2013/08/will-work-for-champagne.html

Costume notations of Mrs. Amy Seiver. The "REAL" Columbia Diggins. Thursday, August 15, 2013. Will work for champagne. I've managed to do quite a bit today, but feel like I did nothing. Oh well. As a base. After seeing the construction photos (and the finished result) over at Before the Automobile. I'm really pleased with the idea. Oh and I painted the garage door today. A huge improvement I'd say, even if it is just temporary. Labels: 18th century court gown. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Madame Seiver sews: Some nearly complete stuff

http://atighterlace.blogspot.com/2011/07/some-nearly-complete-stuff.html

Costume notations of Mrs. Amy Seiver. The "REAL" Columbia Diggins. Thursday, July 14, 2011. Some nearly complete stuff. I gave up on the lace trim idea. I'm going to go with white muslin ruching instead. It's simple, clean, and would be reasonable for a woman working a job such as mine. The dress definitely needs trim though to look complete and break up the monotony of all the pink. I'll also be doing some smocking decoration on the bodice pleats. Sitting down to show some of the poof. A full length shot.

Madame Seiver sews: February 2014

http://atighterlace.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html

Costume notations of Mrs. Amy Seiver. The "REAL" Columbia Diggins. Sunday, February 16, 2014. I haven't updated here in a long time. It's not because I've forgotten, I just haven't had a chance to sew anything over the holidays and trying to get the house picked up before tech rehearsals for Les Miserables. So I present to you version 1.0 of my Gala dress for opening night. I have not finished, still got about two weeks to go and I might change my mind still. And a few in progress photos:.

Madame Seiver sews: Skirts

http://atighterlace.blogspot.com/2013/07/skirts.html

Costume notations of Mrs. Amy Seiver. The "REAL" Columbia Diggins. Thursday, July 11, 2013. Navy blue wool gabardine pencil skirt (even though it looks black in the crappy photo with the webcam) and lovely matching Hard Rock Cafe t-shirt. Got the skirt done tonight! There's going to be a lot of button up shirts, dresses, skirts, and "modern" clothing being made in the immediate future. Did I mention that I'm going to get some patterns for jeans this week and try to tackle that? Labels: blue pencil skirt.

Costume notations of Mrs. Amy Seiver. The "REAL" Columbia Diggins. Saturday, December 15, 2012. 2012: That's a wrap folks. It's that time of year, the time when I admit that I did not finish my goals. It's okay though since there were several other non-sewing victories. 1950s crinoline to go with the pink dresses. Costume notations of Mrs. Amy Seiver. The "REAL" Columbia Diggins. Friday, October 11, 2013. 12th century bliaut construction notes. It occurred to me as I flipped back through the posts of my livejournal that I never posted any construction details of the bliaut I made. As I start out on my next venture making 12th century clothing for a guy friend of mine, I should share the notes I remember about it (mostly to avoid making the same mistakes for a third time). I have no pictures of it, thank God! Subsc...

Mid-Century Remodel

Sunday, July 17, 2011. Molding, Part 3 (and sort of 4). Once the door molding was up, we could do the floor molding. The floor molding was made from the floor boards - bamboo. We cut off the lip where they would fit together and then rounded the edge. Once they were made, they were pretty quick to put up. Looks much better not to see where the drywall ends and the floor ends. Which made a terrible mess. Used the router to edge it out so we could fit a grate on top of it. We finished that last weekend!
