Middle Aged Runner.....: October 2014
http://middle-agedrunner.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Monday, October 20, 2014. MDI Marathon, why run 26.2 when 18.8 works just as well? Last week, as the MDI marathon prep was wrapping up I tried to find time to drop a quick blog about my lead up to my favorite race of the year. Unfortunately I did not have time to do so, so here is a bullet point attempt to make up for that. Training took a backseat to working. This was a choice I made, not a misfortune! I had some of the worst runs of my running career. I was not burned out. I know that prior to both NYC...
Middle Aged Runner.....: November 2014
http://middle-agedrunner.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Sunday, November 30, 2014. 35 for 35, the time I ran halfway across Maine (well, kinda.). I turned 35 in mid November. To many, this might not seem like a big deal. To me though, it was probably the biggest deal EVER! For starters I really, really love my damn birthday and try to turn it into a major national event yearly (it does not work. whatevs.) In addition, for the first time due to my late in life running efforts, I am in a new age group! Or not. Most likely not. But in the end, I got self righteo...

http://middle-agedrunner.blogspot.com/2015/08/week-8-cooking-my-way-through-runners.html
Monday, August 3, 2015. Week 8: Cooking my way through the Runner's World Cookbook. At the rate I am going I will still be working my way through this cookbook this time next year! I have to admit that last week we ate quite well, lots of good meals which generated some nice leftovers. I got some verbal requests for upcoming recipes as well as the one in the comments (I think the long run chocolate PB cake looks great too- I plan to make that in the next couple weeks! I made one major alteration to this ...
Middle Aged Runner.....: It's Pineland Time again!!
http://middle-agedrunner.blogspot.com/2015/05/its-pineland-time-again.html
Thursday, May 21, 2015. It's Pineland Time again! I wait until the last possible minute to commit to any race in the Pineland Trail Running Festival. Even last year when a 50k was the final hurrah for my spring season I waited until the latest conceivable second to hit "send" on my entry. Once I saw the forecast I knew it was going to be awesome so I bit the bullet and signed up. Sunday, you look totally decent! Keep up the good work. No shenanigans! And if you manage to finish you get two free beers!
Middle Aged Runner.....: Maine Coast Marathon: Part 2 of the 39.3 Challenge
http://middle-agedrunner.blogspot.com/2015/05/maine-coast-marathon-part-2-of-393.html
Wednesday, May 13, 2015. Maine Coast Marathon: Part 2 of the 39.3 Challenge. I had watched the forecast all week and all week I knew that the shit was going down on Sunday. Why is this marathon always 85 degrees? Knowing that (stupidly) I have no control over the weather I kept an unusually positive attitude about the whole situation. I assume this was because I knew I was planning a pretty easy day but who knows, maybe I am finally becoming a really uplifting and zen like person? Anyway. I was in a ...

About Couch to Ironwoman. Thursday, May 28, 2015. Pineland Farms 50K Race Recap. It is hard to sit here and write out this race recap, not because it was bad (though there were some bad moments), but because it was a blur! I don't know how something that took me more than one-fourth of the day can feel like it was over in a second. After some lunch with Isaac, we parted ways until the morning. Mike and I just relaxed at the hotel, went to dinner and then I got ready for the next day. We again woke up aro...

K- I just have to write a recap - even though I haven't blogged in forever cause I was sorely disappointed in this race. Partially cause of my own issues and partially cause of the race issues. I feel bad cause so many people hyped up how awesome this race was.and then it just seemed like I endured problem after problem. Miles 1 - 5 - 7:59, 7:37, 7:40, 7:47, 8:57. So I finish...

Middle-aged Meanderings
Tuesday, December 13, 2011. I'm not actually old enough for a bus pass after all. I'm not sure if I should be pleased about this news or somewhat miffed. After a rather cold and windy walk round Brayford Pool to City Hall this afternoon, I was rather surprised to be ushered straight in to see a consultant in Customer Services. I handed over my completed bus pass application form, my passport to prove my age and a Council Tax bill to prove my address. I thought it was all too easy! The weather is distinct...

Middle Aged Runner.....
Wednesday, April 4, 2018. Boston Training Week 13: the one when I'm really too busy to care about training! Let's see, so last week. SUPER crazy. Certainly another week where, if I was not training for a marathon I only would have run once. I certainly am thanking the *pressure* of wishing to complete 26.2 for getting me out for some workouts! I need a few more hours in the day. Phew. However, I got out there and got some decent runs in. I also made eclairs. Which were excellent. I really have it down to...

June 08, 2006. In 1991, I started keeping an annual list of books read, after being inspired by L'Amour's. Education of a Wandering Man. I also jotted down what I could remember reading between 1986-90. You’ll see that in the early years, most of the books were religious in nature. That’s because I was religious in nature.
