I Have Become the Most Un-Interesting Man in the Family. Apr 29, 2014. It happened. I felt it coming on over the past few days. No one has said anything – I think they are just too polite – but I can see it in their eyes. I have become one of. Worse things could happen – I mean every family has got one, right? Perhaps I have taken on her role, and my family is now paying the price. As we were gathered around the dinner table having a nice conversation, I excitedly announced to my family,. My EC and I wer...

Sharing scripture insights, discussion, expansion, and so on. Sunday, June 28, 2015. The Societal Trend of Shaming. I ran across an interesting book called Is Shame Necessary? New Uses for an Old Tool. By Jennifer Jacquet that talks about the rise of shaming in society, particularly online through social media. Sharing scripture insights, discussion, expansion, and so on. Wednesday, April 29, 2015. To whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little. You’re probably familiar with the story in Luke 7:36-48 of Jesus at the Pharisee’s house with the woman who came and wiped His feet with her hair and anointed them with ointment. He asked the Pharisee which debtor would love the creditor the most for that, and the answer was of course, “he, to whom he forgave the most.”. Previously I thought Jesus was just saying th...

Sharing scripture insights, discussion, expansion, and so on. Monday, August 31, 2015. Different ways of learning in the temple. One of the things about going to the temple often is that it can be too easy to fall into a rut of thinking about the same old things, when the temple is meant to be a revelatory experience. How can the temple be a revelatory experience when we do the same things over and over and hear the same words over and over? Those words as if they were displayed on the wall. Certain word...

Monday, April 20, 2015. Lavender gave up her (okay, actually it was MY) beloved nap right around the time she turned three. She had previously been a champion napper, so it was tough for me to give up 2 hours of quiet time each day! Now she only naps if she happens to be in the car in the early afternoon. It doesnt usually work out for me, but once in awhile the stars align. Will you just drive around so I can sleep? Friday, April 10, 2015. This girl LOVES her babies and animals! Good, good eleven! Memoirs of a Middle Aged Mom. May 17, 2017. May 19, 2017. Vulnerable is a scary place to be because it requires some degree of trust, and while it didn’t take me long to realize that my life was not in danger and that the men that were paid to take care of us were very good at their jobs and completely trustworthy, I was still vulnerable and ultimately, taken. Middle Aged Mountain Climbers
Middle Aged Mountain Climbers. The quest of a middle aged mountain climber to become a true adventurer. Saturday, December 13, 2014. Here I am sitting around on a Saturday morning thrilled that I just have to do normal holiday errands. Given that I don't have a lot going on today (yay) I thought I'd post a blog. The interesting (if you call it that) part is that I really don't have much to say. I'm thinking this year of trying Fishers Chimneys on Mt Shuksan, a tougher route up rainier or maybe even both&...
