Luang Prabang, sur le Mékong, au confluent de la Nam Khan que l'on voit ici. Ancienne capitale du Laos, 26 000 habitants. Un lieu incontournable, à la fois ville et village. La vie paraît cool. Nous voyageons en bus locaux, pittoresques, bruyants, peu confortables et archi bondés ( chaises ou sacs de riz dans les allées, petits cochons dans les coffres.) Mais on s'y fait et on partage une cacahuète fraîche, une prunelle du pays, une madeleine avec les Laotiens. C'est intéressant. La région nord est essentiellement rurale, des forêts partout, de l'agriculture, des montagnes.

Deux heures de bus local (bruit, secousses, vent. mais ça roule), 65 baths par personne, et nous arrivons sur le Mékong que nous traversons sur un ferry-pirogue! A l'arrivée, formalités très simples et rapides pour l'obtention de nos visas ; 30 dollars comme prévu. Et recherche de notre guest house à Huay Xai avec vue splendide sur le Mékong ( 12 dollars). Bon voyage aux gazelles.

Enthousiasmés par la Thaïlande l'an passé, et désireux de passer une partie de l'hiver au chaud, nous avons choisi cette année de visiter le Laos et le Cambodge. Selon nos infos, ce sont deux pays accueillants et très natures ; les touristes y sont moins nombreux, les sites également. Et il y a UN endroit à ne pas manquer : Angkor, au Cambodge.
