Tuesday, May 12, 2009. From the ridges of coral, to towering over the sandy beaches, the sight was tremendous. Just as quickly as I floated up, I felt the tug of the rope being brought back down to reality. Back on land, I changed back to my dry clothes and headed into town to see the famous Palazzo Santo Stefano. The Palazzo is an interesting archeological monument from the late middle ages (Basari). Monday, May 11, 2009. The food was delicious! I chose to try Pasta alla Norma, which is a pasta course with tomato sauce, fried eggplant, basil, and A LOT of ricotta cheese. The name of the dish was to honor the composer Vincenzo Bellini. Bellini came from Catania and wrote “Norma,” the national opera (Nozio da Fatto). On the walk back to my villa, the sound of accordions played to the tune, “That’s Amore.” I then realized that I was finally on my dream vacation! May 18, 2009 at 1:02 PM.
