Needle and Brush: Sunflower Glory
http://needleandbrush.blogspot.com/2014/09/sunflower-glory.html
The pleasure is in the process. Friday, September 5, 2014. In the land of paint and pencils, there are many temptations. All the time. Everywhere. Pastels tickled all my creative bits when I signed up for a class at our local library taught by Gregory Maichack. I am in love with the luminosity and can't wait to experiment with more flowers, clouds and the ocean. This one, started in the class is after a Georgia O'Keefe painting. Needle and Brush: The View from Inside the Mind
http://needleandbrush.blogspot.com/2015/01/the-view-from-inside-mind.html
The pleasure is in the process. Sunday, January 11, 2015. The View from Inside the Mind. When one wonders about the minds of visionaries and you land on the incredible art created by Van Gogh’s supposedly disturbed mind, one can only be reminded that no two people see the world in the same way. Some only take in the surface and others see more deeply. Van Gogh's Starry Night. Time-lapse photography while stargazing in Atacama Desert, Chile. Adhemar Duro Getty Images. Needle and Brush: January 2013
http://needleandbrush.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html
The pleasure is in the process. Sunday, January 20, 2013. When I was a child, Sundays were sacred. No work was done, dinner was in the early afternoon and quiet pleasures were enjoyed. It was the day we climbed into the back seat of the DeSoto and went for a Sunday drive. I imagine it was, but can't hear it in my mind. Maybe, on the way home, we'd stop at the Dairy Bar by the airport for vanilla cones topped with jimmies or, if we were really lucky, dipped in chocolate. Sunday's activities may have varie...

Needle and Brush: December 2012
http://needleandbrush.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html
The pleasure is in the process. Monday, December 31, 2012. Putting Off and Picking Up. Have you ever put something off for a really long time? Silly question - of course you have. Me, too. My year of simplifying has had a side benefit in that I am getting back on the ball and doing some of the things I have put off. Occasionally, I table them for good - not necessary to my well-being anymore. Like keeping a budget book. If I don't know where the money is going by now, I never will. Happy New Year's Eve!

Needle and Brush: August 2013
http://needleandbrush.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html
The pleasure is in the process. Friday, August 9, 2013. Martha's Vineyard and A Fine Romance. I am heading for the Vineyard next week for Illumination Night in Oak Bluffs. If you have never been - you'd be in for a real treat if you can go. The charming gingerbread cottages are decked out with colorful (and in many cases vintage) Chinese lanterns for one night every year. I plan to be there with bells on! Go to her website for more info on A Fine Romance. And go back through her blog to join her on her t...

Needle and Brush: The Rocky Path of Progress
http://needleandbrush.blogspot.com/2014/08/the-rocky-path-of-progress.html
The pleasure is in the process. Tuesday, August 5, 2014. The Rocky Path of Progress. Living so close to historical touch-points as I do here in New England, I find myself intrigued by the minds of people who lived here before me. I have been reading Henry David Thoreau’s book, A Week on the Concord and Merrimack Rivers. In a way that Newton may not have intended but that was apt for his time. Man’s forward motion will, by nature, change something that went before. If Thoreau had not travers...It is not e...
