Mid Mod Inspirations: My Dream Bookcases
http://midmodinspirations.blogspot.com/2015/02/my-dream-bookcases.html
Ever since we moved into our house I have dreamed about having built-in bookcases in the front room, but it's taken two years to finally set aside the money, stop talking about it and do it f'reals. The ideas that we have for this space really include a four-step plan. This opening here is a walk-thru that leads to the kitchen, but in between the kitchen is our laundry room and very small pantry. By far my favorite part of this process was styling the bookcases. I have been buying things in anticipat...
Mid Mod Inspirations: Mid Century Metal Desk Makeover
http://midmodinspirations.blogspot.com/2015/01/mid-century-metal-desk-makeover.html
Mid Century Metal Desk Makeover. Have you ever done a makeover project that was completely a labor of love? This desk was a labor of love. Aaand a pain in the butt. But isn't love like that sometimes? My husband recently got a new job where he gets to work from home (yay! For durability reasons, we decided to leave the faux wood top alone and paint the bottom navy blue. So let me tell you how this refinishing process went down. So you may have noticed that there weren't any pictures of the process. T...
Mid Mod Inspirations: My First Bedrooms and Making It Personal
http://midmodinspirations.blogspot.com/2014/04/my-first-bedrooms-and-making-it-personal.html
My First Bedrooms and Making It Personal. My mom mail ordered a rainbow mural, which rivaled the forest mural in shock value, and made me a rainbow bedspread and curtains. And then, because my mom is a collector herself, she bought practically every rainbow item in existence for my room to fuel my obsession. Sometime around age 12 I wanted a change, and somehow thought that a french provincial theme was the way to go, complete with a french phone, fancy perfume bottles and a washing basin. (? I appreciat...
Mid Mod Inspirations: DIY Painted Planter and New Table
http://midmodinspirations.blogspot.com/2014/04/diy-painted-planter-and-new-table.html
DIY Painted Planter and New Table. I have been looking for a large pot to put in our kitchen, and I recently found this one at a thrift store for $3.50. It was exactly the size and shape I wanted, but the color was wrong, and I was hesitant about the stair step pattern that gave it a Santa Fe/Southwestern vibe. But I decided to take a leap and embrace the pattern and hold back my disdain for the Southwestern style - just this once. After the bottom portion dried, I peeled off the tape, and then reversed ...
Mid Mod Inspirations: Cheap Side Table Transformation
http://midmodinspirations.blogspot.com/2014/10/cheap-side-table-transformation.html
Cheap Side Table Transformation. 160;10.17.2014. This guy was $15, 24 inches tall and 18x18" square, which just happens to be the perfect size for an 18x18 piece of tile. So off to Home Depot I went, where I found a great piece of travertine tile for $5. Once I got it home, I took the top off, which was a piece of MDF that had been covered with some kind of vinyl fabric like a three-ring binder. I'm sure this table probably made a college student or straight bachelor very happy once upon a time. The side...

Sibling Revelry: Happy 4th
http://siblingrevelry.blogspot.com/2015/07/happy-4th.html
Saturday, July 04, 2015. Tyler is working today, but we celebrated last night at the city parade and festival. It was. kind of a lame parade with a firetruck and some horses and a few boy scouts and the Mormons. But Will was bound and determined to ride his bike in the parade, and Tyler and Maddie marched with him. After the parade, we ate some fair food, wandered around a little and decided that was good. It wasn't even close to fireworks time and the littles were ready for bed. And me. A couple of thos...
Sibling Revelry: About Me
http://siblingrevelry.blogspot.com/p/about-me.html
Want to do a write up about myself, isn't that what my blog is about? So just the basics: I'm a stay at home mom of 3 kids and 4 chickens. I love trying new things, but usually once I've figured it out I move to the next thing. My current "tryings" are: photography, home decor, a handcrafted and/or thrifted wardrobe, my etsy shop, a traditional diet, and getting along with my children (this one's been on the list for a while.). I love history, self-sufficiency, classical music, day-dreaming and creating.

And then I really did have 2 sons. I made ties and overalls for the boys but most of my sewing was home-dec or repurposing for me. I also did special occasion dresses for my girls and for other friends too. In 2009 I opened my etsy shop selling mostly vintage fabrics. I finally got a DSLR and worked on my photography too. Now, in 2014 I have a new daughter and the sewing bug has struck again. I can't wait to try all the new designs out there, especially with my vintage twist. That's me, far right).

Sibling Revelry: Summer Sewing Completed!
http://siblingrevelry.blogspot.com/2015/08/summer-sewing-completed.html
Monday, August 10, 2015. I blogged a little bit about my summer sewing list. And I'm pleased to report that there's 2 weeks left of summer and my list is completed. So here's my entire list in pictures and reviews:. 1 First up is the Lullaby Bubble (bodysuit) from the Oliver S Lullaby Layette. It It only goes up to size 24 months, so I had to get going on it. 2 Hello Sunshine Shirt. 3 Beach Robes from Made. This is one of the oldest patterns in my collection and I finally sewed it. I made one for Ame...

Mid Mod Inspirations
The Rug is In. When we first moved in, I went to At Home (formerly Garden Ridge) and bought a $100 rug for our family room. It was cute, but it was also synthetic, rippley, cheaply made and uncomfortable. After two years of traffic, spilled juice, and pulverized crackers, the rug was totally trashed, and it was time for us to fork over the money for something nicer. I looked at hundreds of rugs at Rugs USA. And ended up with these two contenders:. Or allow crackers and juice. Posted by Mandie McMurdie.
