Notes From Down Under: To Loren
http://aliciasmithnotes.blogspot.com/2011/05/to-loren.html
Notes From Down Under. 04 May, 2011. May 3, 2011 - the one year anniversary of the loss of my beautiful sister. Loren, I miss you dear sister. I miss your friendship, your compassion, the wisdom and gentleness you carried, even in your youth. I try to be that kind of friend, that kind of listener, like you were to me and others. You will never be forgotten. You will continue to be loved, and to inspire love. May the road rise up to meet you, may the wind be always at your back. View my complete profile.

Notes From Down Under: July 2009
http://aliciasmithnotes.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html
Notes From Down Under. 11 July, 2009. Hello friends and family! Last Sunday, as you may know, we celebrated Sophie’s 2. Birthday -which is actually today, but we didn't make a big deal about today. This week Dan is flying in the Outback, and today he visited Uluru, or Ayers rock (the big red monolith in the middle of the country - famous postcard stuff.) So we had the party early. It was a small-ish party at home. Sophie had a blast! First gift- from Dom and Dom and family. A realistic baby doll, com...

Notes From Down Under: April 2011

Notes From Down Under. 27 April, 2011. So we should catch up again sometime! Those are just a few of the bits I can remember. She's still going on. she makes me smile. And last week, Dan and I are sitting on the couch one evening. We have some of Sophie's favourite music on for her, and she's dancing. We watch with delight (and maybe with just a few snickers). She spins, she kicks, she does fancy footwork, she wiggles her hips! Have you seen some of those dance moves on tv, or at school (daycare)? We day...

Notes From Down Under: November 2008
http://aliciasmithnotes.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html
Notes From Down Under. 22 November, 2008. Sophia has taken her first independent steps. Well, she's taken one step several times, and two steps a couple of times. She stands up in the middle of the floor all by herself, and congratulates herself with huge smiles and clapping. Then she plops down and laughs. Thank goodness for all that padding- there's a lot of falling in this stage! Another toddler on the loose! Yes, it does take quite a bit of time! Any tips or suggestions for travelling ( a REALLY long...

Notes From Down Under: October 2008

Notes From Down Under. 17 October, 2008. The lives of the busy. Are too rarely documented. Ironically, when we are happiest and busiest, I seem to have the least amount of time to find something to say about it. Things have been good. Here are some highlights. Danny has changed careers. He has left the insurance industry and, after a long road of hard work, he is a full time pilot and flight instructor. He actually Likes his job! On our last "weekend," Danny and I went out and bought my Christmas present...

Notes From Down Under: February 2010
http://aliciasmithnotes.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html
Notes From Down Under. 28 February, 2010. Lately talking to Sophie is more and more like talking to a 3-year-old. Conversations and monologues can be. confusing, imaginative, thought-provoking, and hilarious! I'm not sure if I'm ready for this yet, but here we go! She is my delight. Sophie - Dad, will you marry me? Dan - Sophie I can't marry you, I'm already married to Mama. S - Oh, but you love me. D - Yes, I love you very much, but I'm not going to marry you. I'm just married to Mama. D - That's right!

Notes From Down Under: February 2009
http://aliciasmithnotes.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html
Notes From Down Under. 26 February, 2009. Sophie is 19 months old, and she is really beginning to show off her personality. Of course, she has all permission and expectation to grow and change - I'm not putting her in any kind of personality box. But it is so much fun for me to be able to say that there are things I know about who she is right now, as a unique individual child. But she colours several times a day, for really loooong stretches for a toddler - 10 to 15 minutes easily! And heaps of other po...
