And admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. Pick up where I left off in our study of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit. Today’s Note will focus on the gift of teaching. Teach” He says in Romans:. Father Bill gave me great advice: “...

Real or not?

Looking for Endurance Coach Matt Hart? Laquo; 4 Steps to Effective Scrum. September 2nd, 2014. I enjoy watching “reality documentaries” such as Alaska: The Last Frontier, Mountain Men, Yukon Men and Ice Lake Rebels. But I really don’t like “fake” shows, especially when they go out of their way to seem real. Alaska: TLF and MM are, as far as I can tell, solid and real. I haven’t researched Yukon Men yet. The city of Yellowknife is. Most likely wasn’t real. I think scripted reality shows belong on network/...

This camera was my first Contax and still my favourite. the 159 is a solid performer with programme shooting, a useful 1/4000th top shutter speed and TTL flash metering at 1/250th. The size is perfectly balanced with the 50/1.4 or any of the f/2.8 primes up to the 135mm Sonnar. A nice little camera and the predecessor to may favoured 159MM similar sized but lacking the fast flash sync and programme modes. I owned one for a bit as it came with a lens I wanted. But sold it on in favour of the 159. July 12,...

Soundings: Thoughts On The New Liturgy Of The ACNA
http://sanjoaquinsoundings.blogspot.com/2012/02/thoughts-on-new-liturgy-of-acna.html
One deep calls to another . . . Psalm 42.9. Tuesday, February 28, 2012. Thoughts On The New Liturgy Of The ACNA. The ACNA is preparing to release a new prayer book. This is a good and essential thing! About the 1979 Prayer Book was a disaster! Let me say again how astounding this is! There should have been every reason for Episcopalians to stay with Cranmer's words, as measured and beautiful as they were (Cranmer certainly was a consummate word-smith! Yet by a great majority, the priests and people of th...

Soundings: What Is Anglicanism?
http://sanjoaquinsoundings.blogspot.com/2011/12/what-is-anglicanism.html
One deep calls to another . . . Psalm 42.9. Saturday, December 10, 2011. The fact is that we are still trying to decide what being an Anglican means. Is Anglicanism Protestant or Reformed Catholic? Where are our roots? Are our roots in the early undivided church or does Anglicanism begin with the Elizabethan Settlement? The heart of Anglicanism? Is Canterbury still the historic center? If so, then are we looking at Augustine of Canterbury as the first Archbishop (597) of the Church in England? What about...

One deep calls to another . . . Psalm 42.9. Thursday, April 30, 2015. Bishop's Note: April 30, 2015 - DSJ Strategic Goals Continued. Alleluia Christ is risen! The Lord is risen indeed. Alleluia! How appropriate then that the strategic goal for this week's Note is: "To regularly offer training and development opportunities for clergy and lay leaders.". Why is this so important? When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless,. Then he said to his disciples,.

One deep calls to another . . . Psalm 42.9. Thursday, March 26, 2015. The Bishop’s Note: March 26, 2015 – The Last Words of Jesus #6. 8220;It is finished.”. 8216;It is finished,’. And he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.”. Physically, Jesus’ body could just take no more. I can’t begin to imagine what this could have been like – no living soul could, I suppose. However, I recently read Unbroken. Tetelestai) said (to fulfill the Scripture),. 8216;I thirst.’. I pray you all a truly blessed Holy Week.

Soundings: Thomas More, Henry VIII and the Future of Anglicanism

One deep calls to another . . . Psalm 42.9. Tuesday, December 20, 2011. Thomas More, Henry VIII and the Future of Anglicanism. On July 6, 1535 Sir Thomas More was beheaded because he was unable to agree with the conscience of King Henry VIII, in opposition to the Conscience of the Church. Thomas More defended his refusal to sign the oath acceding to Parliament's Act of Supremacy because:. The Act of Supremacy contravened God's Law. Contemporary Anglicans would do well to follow More's example. We rel...
