From The Shop at the MCRR

From The Shop at the MCRR. Tuesday, March 13, 2018. March, 2018, Work Weekend. Great day outside - and a great day inside the shop. From The Shop at the MCRR. Friday, July 24, 2015. July, 2015 Work Weekend and Independence Day Operating Event. The July 11th Work Weekend was rescheduled to the 4th to coincide with the Independence Day operating event. Leading up to the I-D activities and the incredible fireworks show sponsored by the Mt. Pleasant Independence Day Committee, work centers popped up all over the grounds. Inside the shop, Walt O. and his helpers continued work on the stock car's roof. Rex F and Paul K "eye" the rails to i...

From The Shop at the MCRR. Sunday, January 26, 2014. January, 2014 Work Weekend. A large number of MCRR members appeared for a productive few days in and around the shop. The "new" DRGW boxcar (3007) saw another spike of activity. Last summer, work began but was interrupted due to the Old Threshers' Reunion, Midwest Haunted Rails, and the North Pole Express. In the last month, the trucks, brakes, running gear, and several areas of ironwork were serviced. Kendall O. paints the ironwork with primer. Here i...

From The Shop at the MCRR. Friday, December 26, 2014. 2014 North Pole Express. This blog post will cover the three weekends of North Pole Express. Address. (You will have to "pass the challenge" of the link to get the real email address.). Before Thanksgiving, several MCRR volunteers replaced the boiler plugs and filled No. 12's boiler and tender with water. The post-Thanksgiving crew cleaned the flues and lit the first natural gas fire of the three weekend event. The muffler did present a problem that h...

http://midwestcentralrr.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html

From The Shop at the MCRR. Friday, March 20, 2015. March, 2015 Work Weekend. Warm weather and no snow! On Friday night, Matt W and Elliot H cobbled dividers together to place in the red box holding No. 12's boiler plugs and injector check valves. The December boiler wash left off a few items due to the poor weather. We took advantage of the first warm work weekend and washed No. 12's flues. Melissa B rides the 12's tender while the Vulcan gasoline switcher pulls the 12 to the flue washing area.
