Close Enough For Jazz. Am I a teacher of music, or a musician who teaches? Saturday, December 14, 2013. Hail to the Captain. So, Principal Janeway. I also get the feeling that someone warned her not to say the words "marching band" around me, which amuses me to no end. I don't care about marching band - why don't we build a big orchestra? We've got to get the counselors to stop advising kids out of music.". Can you publicize your concerts a little earlier? Thursday, December 12, 2013. Some of the groups ...

My students all have autism but I still interact daily with the kids with emotional disturbances, especially at the beginning and ends of the days during busing procedures. And his response to my profession of care and concern? As told by Miss Adventurous. January 17, 2009 at 4:25 PM. Wow Thanks for that. Teach Me,...

Miss Adventurous in NYC: One down....
http://missadventurousinnyc.blogspot.com/2008/09/one-down.html
Miss Adventurous in NYC. Well, I survived. Actually, I shouldn't say it like that because it wasn't that. Bad I think the first day of my teaching career went about as well as it could have. Let me recap. Plus, there were many other young, white, brand new teachers traveling up to the Bronx, so I had an impromptu pump up session with some other new teachers on the 2 train today. Pretty cool. Got to school, calmed my nerves with a fellow fellow ( har. Floor). Poor motor skills, can't hold pencil, reco...

WebQuests and Scavenger Hunts. May 30, 2007. After this week, students will take final exams. Graduation is on the 12th (we are a Jewish school, so we don’t hold events on Fridays or Saturdays in order to avoid conflicting with Shabbat). I want to make sure that my road map for the year is plotted. I did plot out the first month or so, and my lessons went great. I should have done more planning, but the craziness of the year set in and yadda, yadda, yadda, I didn’t keep it up. May 31, 2007 at 2:00 am.

http://picklemaestro.blogspot.com/2014/12/student-reality-checks-or-lack-thereof.html
Close Enough For Jazz. Am I a teacher of music, or a musician who teaches? Tuesday, December 16, 2014. Student Reality Checks (or lack thereof). Today I asked her how much time practicing she gets in - she told me an hour a week. I told her that wasn't nearly enough. I don't think she believes me. Then again, she lives in a world where there are sometimes alternatives to hard work to get results. Want to get into jazz next year. Kid: ummm. they're playing the jazz music? Kid: Two. I think. Okay, don’t wake me up | Chalk dust makes me sneeze
https://chalkdustmakesmesneeze.wordpress.com/2009/08/27/okay-dont-wake-me-up
Chalk dust makes me sneeze. Life in a mid-American high school. Okay, don’t wake me up. August 27, 2009 – 1:33 pm. Being the cynical bastard that I am I was sure that my first geometry test would be typical. Sure, kids are turning in homework at a record pace, but they’re probably copying. Tested my kids today. 58 kids took the test. 30 A’s – including 7 100’s. Only 4 F’s. Let me sleep. Don’t wake me up. This is a good dream. Laquo; A college degree might not mean so much anymore. Keep up the good work!

Chalk dust makes me sneeze. Life in a mid-American high school. Rain, rain, go away. Or at least Maurice needs to…. September 22, 2009 – 7:11 pm. Classes begin at 8:15. Plenty of time you would think…. About 8:40 my door opens and the janitor comes in dragging the water vac. He walks right down my center aisle, I’m still teaching. He stops right in front of the Promethean board, bends over, plugs in the water vac and starts sucking up water. While I’m still talking…. Not politically correct, but…. They&#...
