FotR illustration: tolkienart

Gandalf, Bilbo and random hobbit children. Coloured pencils. I can't get used to the prismas. Maybe I should use a paper with more tooth, but all in all, they are too soft and waxy. I honestly wanted to try a less bright and colourful scene, but somehow, the idea of the Shire in glowing greens and bright colours has been so firmly established in my mind after watching FotR for a dozen times, I couldn't get rid of it. I blame Peter Jackson for the result. Link goes to my own journal. Post a new comment.

Breaking up is hard to do: on culling a book hoard. Sunday, December 2nd, 2007 - 9:12 am. Do you throw out books? When you buy a book, is it marriage, or is it just a getting-to-know-you date? Oh, the agony. How can you make this decision? It's true that some. I guess the answer to that question is this: owning a book, I think, is quite different from just reading it. This will sound a bit weird, but for me a book is more than an orderly little pile of paper. It represents, in material form, the ...Somet...

Teal deer vs. the novel: is the internet soaking up novel-reading time? - Fictualities

Teal deer vs. the novel: is the internet soaking up novel-reading time? Sunday, January 27th, 2008 - 9:23 am. For the past few years? I haven't been reading all that many novels. And then of course there's the internet. Apart from LJ, which for me is simultaneously a place to chat with other people and a source of good stories, I do spend some time reading . . . I dunno, the things you read on the net. All those things. Mentioning an LJ community called. We're talking hours. Every day. According to Ursul...

This is my first post here, and also the first Tolkien related drawing I did in many years! But I plan to do much more in the future. Of Gandalf, Saruman and the Shire. Gandalf and Saruman Galadriel in the background. It's a scene from a short text from the Unfinished Tales. Posted in my own journal. With a quote and some commentary. Post a new comment. MANIPULATION - Despair... - Full frontal nudity but nothing showing: tolkienart
http://tolkienart.livejournal.com/24203.html
MANIPULATION - Despair. - Full frontal nudity but nothing showing. I'm in such a mood that I can not bring myself to manipulate anything with a face. So I made one that didn't need a face and would show how I'm feeling. I named this 'Despair'. It is an elf who lost his mate at the First Age. He can't go back to Valinor to be with his love due to his duty to his people as a ruler. So all he can do is despair when he is on solitude. Hair by Lully locks. Water by Flood filter from Flaming Pearl.

The 30th Anniversary of the Silmarillion Project. Hello fellow Tolkien fans with brilliant art skills :) I thought I'll bring you news about this Silmarillion anniversary project, let me quote after. JRRTolkien in a letter to Milton Waldman, (probably) in late 1951. Post a new comment. We will l...

I imagined to see a slight shimmer of green under his fringe. If it's James, I'm really sorry. I think I picked the wrong picture to remix *cough*. Your art is lovely,. And I had a hard time choosing one piece. Done in acrylics (another mistake). 2006-06-30 02:56 pm (UTC). Don't worry, it was Harry! I happen to think you did a great job!
