Thursday, October 8, 2009. Well we're off. Shawn arrived Monday and began race meetings and walking sections of the race course. Jack, Sandy, and me arrived tomorrow at 0830 (0330 hours Texas time) and then take a train up to Figeuira da Foz. We should get there around 1200. The only reports I got from Shawn was that he cannot find spray sunscreen anywhere and that the food S (is different). So he went and tried to find some stuff to make some sandwhiches. Can't wait to get there.We'LL keep you posted.

Monday, October 12, 2009. Day 1- 249 km 6:41 min. Today started off bright and early with the checkpoint workers heading out at about 0630 to man the work stations at the checkpoints. The group of people here to help TEAM USA is great, and they set up 3 different checkpoint stations. The riders come in; they get fueled up, and are provided water and food while they wait to return to the track. So keep looking here and glance at my photos. I’ll post as soon as I can. Friday, October 9, 2009. Well what an adventure this was. I can usually sleep pretty well while flying, but even after the naps, I never seemed rested. Here's how the day went:. Wake up about 0530 (CST) with Gena and then the baby, took Jossi to school and a last minute trip to Walgreens. Leave at 1130, sleep most of the way, wake up with "crick in the neck".
