We are the pebbles.). Requiem for a constant companion. August 22, 2014. There was a grave accident involving river rapids and a canoe. The body will be returned to me soon. This is the beginning of my grieving process. There’s always one main character missing from every home movie, the one capturing the footage. I find myself today without a lot of photos of my dearly departed for this reason. The shot above is the first exposure I made to test it out. The Alpha frame as it were. I did check and the Fa...

How to anger the mountain gods | (We are the pebbles.)

http://www.migratorypebbles.com/2015/06/11/how-to-anger-the-mountain-gods

We are the pebbles.). How to anger the mountain gods. June 11, 2015. Another long day on the trail (from Bampton Grange), another long night at the pub (in Orton), another short blog post. I think a bullet list of random thoughts — not unlike the headlines at the Shap co-op, where we also bought random lunch items — is warranted. At her for coming over to say hi to me! Buzzed but still able to navigate…. I can’t say Shap except in my “Shaft! 8221; voice. You’ll have to ask the other Pebbles if ...I had a...

We are the pebbles.). I do like a bit of Wensleydale, Gromit. June 19, 2015. Two more days of hiking to go… One thing I’ll miss is the ready access to Wensleydale. It’s in sandwiches (often with pickle, which really means a sort of chutney relish), it’s in cheese pies, it’s everywhere, as plentiful as Cheddar! And it is delicious. Definitely worth running an errand to the moon to resupply. C2C wins on all counts. I can’t wait. Photo courtesy of Senses in the Kitchen blog. Nothing but blue skies.

Van Halen | (We are the pebbles.)

http://www.migratorypebbles.com/2015/06/10/van-halen

We are the pebbles.). June 10, 2015. Yesterday we split up after Grasmere, with 5 Pebbles taking the low road from Grisedale Tarn through the valley, 4 taking the medium road up St. Sunday’s Crag, and Moe and I undertaking Helvellyn. Except for some reason Moe is incapable of remembering that name. He insisted we climb, “… Van Helen is it? 8221; It quickly evolved, and now we simply refer to it as Van Halen. “I hear it’s rocky,” Seth added. Sucking bits through a straw. How to anger the mountain gods.

Mid-hike crisis | (We are the pebbles.)

http://www.migratorypebbles.com/2015/06/14/mid-hike-crisis

We are the pebbles.). June 14, 2015. All is well in Keld, so don’t let my link bait headline worry you. This is the view out my bedroom window, so you can imagine the worst crisis being that telephone booth lit up all night. It was an adorable nightlight, really. Crisis averted, my life (oops, I mean my hike) is back on track! Half done, and having a blast. Well equipped by my personal outfitters. Welcome to my dorm room. One thought on “Mid-hike crisis”. Thursday, August 22, 2013. The teacher I spoke of earlier this week had another idea I wanted to jot down. She uses composition notebooks as class folders. Boston Marathon 2016 Recap–What I Carried With Me. Almost two months after I lined up in Hopkinton and I ran my heart out along 26.2 miles of my home turf , the overwhelming memory I still feel resonating through my core is gratitude.
