May 26th, 2008. Another agent post about query letters here. Somewhat tongue-in-cheek, I suppose. I'm guessing/hoping that what she means to say is don't start your query with a whole bunch of questions you're not going to explain, but one or two questions that are explained are fine. Duh Agents and their hangups! Links to useful sites. May 20th, 2008 at 11:55 AM. Here is another link. Links to useful sites. May 19th, 2008 at 9:31 AM. Came up on the Query Shark site. Torussenji's Priest: one last time - Query Eagles
http://query-eagles.livejournal.com/17095.html
Torussenji's Priest: one last time. Jan 26th, 2010 at 4:47 PM. The story's done: 106,555 words (a significant number, I'd say). I want to thank everybody for their critiques. I'm sending out beta copies of the manuscript to people who ask me for it, and it's coming up on the time to send this out for real:. An agent situation - Query Eagles
http://query-eagles.livejournal.com/19288.html
Oct 14th, 2011 at 6:22 AM. She's from a reputable agency and has discussed what she considers professional communication with an agent on her blog. (She does mention that checking-in with her is fine if she's taken over a month to get back to people on queries and full ms requests). Should I write her off? Those of you who have found an agent the traditional way (sending out queries, getting full ms request, etc)- how did the process go with your agent? What are your thoughts on my situation? That said, ...

May 18th, 2008 at 11:25 PM. Not being a regimented person, I don't really want to go into setting 'rules' at all, but I'd think it would be common courtesy that anyone who posts something makes a few comments on proposals made by others. That seems only fair to me. What a lovely surprise. May 13th, 2008 at 8:52 AM. I turn my computer on and find a couple of queries have been posted overnight! Someone else was asking if it's OK to ask questions, or if this is a lecture-only forum. May 12th, 2008 at 8:24 PM.

Prefect Slog: Black Dog Down - July
http://prefectjournal.blogspot.com/2015/07/black-dog-down-july.html
Friday, July 31, 2015. Black Dog Down - July. Little things please little minds. Not that my mind is especially little, but it does tend to get quite crowded so that’s suggestive of some pretty cramped headspace. Or maybe there’s ample space but there’s too many foreign thoughts coming over here, taking up too much room and living off the system. Over the years, I’ve had plenty of experience in identifying the Black Dog, but even now there are times when external sources trespass and blur the track...

Prefect Slog: September 2014
http://prefectjournal.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Sunday, September 28, 2014. 8220;Good old fashioned Doctor Who fun,” somebody said to me on Twitter last night. They were responding to my less than enthusiastic reaction to the latest episode, The Caretaker. 8216;Good’ and ‘fun’ are subjective, so fair play to anyone who got that much enjoyment out of it. Me, I got bored. Tedious fluff, I thought. But I’ve racked my brains and can only guess that by ‘old-fashioned’ the Twitterer meant circa 2006. Soap opera first crept into Doctor Who. In a decent run o...

Prefect Slog: Black Dog Down - May
http://prefectjournal.blogspot.com/2015/05/black-dog-down-may.html
Sunday, May 31, 2015. Black Dog Down - May. Previously on Black Dog Down. 8220;A month of R&R. Surely even I can’t fail at that. Thought I’d open with that quote as I was fairly sure at the time I wrote it that, yes, even I could fail at a month of R&R. And I did, to some extent. By the start of May I was still behind schedule on applying the make-up and cosmetic surgery to the latest book in my Evil UnLtd. All interspersed with rationed spells of productivity. Not to mention a healthy portion of tha...

Prefect Slog: June 2014
http://prefectjournal.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
Sunday, June 01, 2014. A long time ago, when I first heard about that there was an Agents Of SHIELD. TV series in the pipeline, I was hugely excited. Then, when I heard they were changing the title to Marvel’s. Now that we’ve reached the end of the first season, I’m inclined to think they need to stamp the Marvel brand on more boldly. School of humour and the charisma of its cast. My principal favourite is Agent May. And yes, this has much to do with my Ming-Na. I’ve also really liked Chloe Bennett.

Prefect Slog: November 2014

Sunday, November 23, 2014. 10 Things I Hate About Who. Hate is a strong word. But, like a Tyrannosaurus up the Thames, it’s a good attention-grabber even if it ends up having nothing to do with the rest of this blog post. The fact is, when you’ve been married to something – sorry, when you’ve been a fan. It might feel like falling out of love. But it’s not hate. You could never hate the show. You still love the damned thing. Who am I talking about? I am talking about. Happy 51st birthday Doctor Who.
