Blazer Trail: February 2013

http://www.mike-smethurst.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html

Thursday, 7 February 2013. I did make it down to North Fambridge on the 4th of January for the weekend on my own while Jackie went to the Isle of Wight with her sisters. Ambitious plans for sailing to Shotley and back were scuppered by the fog. I set off - only to get as far as the Roach - no fun in very poor vizibility. I fuelled up at Burnham and was back at Fambridge before lunch. 7th of February 2013. Beef Bolognese for tea and Jackie thrashed me at Scrabble - again. The weather looks good - but COLD!

Blazer Trail: Ready For Off.

http://www.mike-smethurst.blogspot.com/2014/05/ready-for-off.html

Saturday, 17 May 2014. Blazer - now with sails on - Guernsey. Another sunny and warm day. We collected our parcel from the harbour masters office - Thanks Marlene! We bought an all day bus ticket and went to Iceland supermarket for some good value bits and pieces. Later we took another bus to the Guernsey B and Q! I was surprised they had one - to get hardware I needed. Chicken Carbonara for tea and all set for off in the morning. Fast Cat from Jersey to Weymouth. A Trawler with nets down. Jackie finally...

Blazer Trail: Gale in Granville

http://www.mike-smethurst.blogspot.com/2014/05/gale-in-granville.html

Monday, 26 May 2014. After a bit of a rocky rolly night we got new neighbour's - Carroll and Danny on Jemima - a Westerly Fulmar. It was a poor day - raining on and off - we shopped and explored - a nice little seaside town on a peninsular. The marina is behind a harbour wall and we were berthed in the only available space opposite the harbour entrance which was open to wind from the South. When the tide went out the water was kept in the marina by a sill which kept things nice and calm. At tea time we w...

Blazer Trail: November 2012

http://www.mike-smethurst.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html

Friday, 2 November 2012. Our first weekend trip. Friday - 2nd Novermber. By way of an introduction to sailing and living on Blazer for a few days - Jackie agreed to join me on this trip - just pottering about in the river Crouch. The forecast was for cold and wet but the drive down was great yesterday in sunshine and easy traffic! Nigel met us with a warm welcome and helped to get our mountain of stuff on board with the comment - "that lot should get you to Gibraltar! It might be a dawn motor - NO Wind!

Blazer Trail: August 2012

http://www.mike-smethurst.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html

Wednesday, 29 August 2012. Still stuck in Cherbourg. Not much to report today - glad I stayed put - my wind speed recorder shows an average of force six for yesterday with one gust at force 8! It rained all afternoon so I didn't get many outside jobs done and no photos. I did work on the radar - remade some connections - no improvement. Today I will do a test procedure from the manual and see if it gives me a clue what's wrong. I did make a cracking rabbit stew - perfect for a cool rainy day. This was de...

SV Pleinair - Ships log. Sunday, July 26, 2015. Posted by Anthony Mealing. It was suggested by Shelagh that I might like to spend the week sorting Pleinair and getting her back in the water so we could start to enjoy a little boating this season. I naturally jumped at the chance and half-six last Saturday morning (18th July) I jumped in the car loaded with various bits and bobs and headed off to Fambridge, arriving for breakfast with my mate Bruce, at West Wick Yacht Club about nine. SV Pleinair - Ships log. Saturday, July 04, 2015. Posted by Anthony Mealing. We decided to shoot down to Pleinair and have a pottering day, even tho we knew we needed to be home tonight. So, a steady drive of 2.5 hrs and we were sat in West Wick Yacht Club having breakfast just after 10. All in all I'm quite pleased with today's efforts both mine and Shelaghs, I shall be having another go next weekend on my own so we'll see what happens. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). http://svpleinair.blogspot.com/2015/08/a-lazy-weekend.html

SV Pleinair - Ships log. Monday, August 17, 2015. Posted by Anthony Mealing. After three weeks away from the boat we took advantage of a free weekend. During Friday i loaded the car with bits and pieces required for a couple of jobs I wanted to get done, clothes and grub. Shelagh duly arrived from work at 17;30 and we set off to Fambridge within twenty minutes. Our original plan had been to arrive there in time to have dinner in the Ferry boat Inn. My timing for moving Pleinair to the inside of the ponto...

SV Pleinair - Ships log: The delivery skippers p.o.v. - Day 1

http://svpleinair.blogspot.com/2015/06/the-delivery-skippers-pov-day-1.html

SV Pleinair - Ships log. The delivery skippers p.o.v. - Day 1. Sunday, June 21, 2015. I had a little job to do at Fambridge this morning so Tony didn't rush to get away from Port Solent. We meet up at Fambridge about one and caught the twenty past two train. Four hours, give or take, and four changes later we arrived in Cosham and grabbed a taxi to Port Solent. My first impressions of "Pleinair" were positive. She's a bit tired and needs some TLC but she doesn't look too bad at all. Hopefully the rain wi...

01 October 2014 @ 11:52 pm. Okay, it turns out I forgot to post to Livejournal for exactly a year. Oops. Real talk, I don't know what to do with this thing anymore. I started up a few tumblr blogs, and adopted a strategy of adopting a specific topic to each one. The problem is that I don't really have anything left over for LJ. I suppose I could use this space for more personal matters, but I've never had much interest in that. The hours don't bother me so much, and there's a certain unpredictability to ...
