China was a difficult deployment for the AMF. It would be fair to say that the red tape between the US Government and the Chinese Government was always to be a volatile situation. The cultural and political differences coupled with the highly charged year of the Olympics made for difficult time anyway. It was a wonderful day the day he walked thru the gates of Darwin Airport to come home to me so we could prepare for the deployment to the Azores!

As in years past, we watched the Ladera Ranch parade, joined our neighborhood block party and watched the spectacular fireworks show. Let the fun begin! The parade always starts with our local firemen and police. Can you feel the excitement in the air? Thinking this should be the inspiration for our outfits next year! Index
Mike and I have lived in some diverse countries, with different foods, lifestyles and customs. The Niamey and Azores deployments of the US Department of Energy's ARM Mobile. Have both been suitable for me to travel and accompany Mike for the duration. Germany (2007) and China (2008) were both handled differently and Mike spent all of 2008 in China by himself. Like my Africa pages, I hope to make this a lighthearted record of our stay with emphasis on our experiences with both work and recreation.
