Teaching Since: November, 1989. If you’re looking to fly bigger airplanes and carry more passengers, as well as fly at night, the private license is required. With a minimum of 40 total hours required, private pilots must possess a minimum of an FAA third class medical certificate.

Teaching Since: November, 1989. Once you’re earned your private license, the instrument rating is often the next rating to pursue. Pilots must possess an instrument rating if they’re looking to act as a pilot-in-command of a flight below VFR weather minimums and/or in IFR conditions. IFR, INSTRUMENT REFRESHER COURSE -. INSTRUMENT PROFICIENCY CHECK (IPC). 3 DAY IFR REFRESHER COURSE (counts as Instrument Proficiency Check). You need to regain your confidence, proficiency and legal currency!

Teaching Since: November, 1989. A little 17 year break from flying came along and I knew I better get back to my first love. Took my Private Pilot Check Ride in a Cessna 150 in Tucson AZ 1984. Then went to Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa, OK for Commercial, instrument, and instructor ratings graduating in April 1989. Got in my 72 Nova and drove to sunny California and have loved living in the Bay Area ever since. What a great place to live and learn to fly!
