Monday, 13 July 2015. Dunlin Every Month So Far. I had a couple of hours to spare so went down to SS again hoping for some returning waders, it was near high tide and I was pleasantly surprised to find two dunlin plus a ringed plover on the beach by the Ski Club, my first stop! Dunlin by the Ski Club. Just one Ringed Plover. The 'island roost that was', now well joined to the beach - attracts walkers to go out on it with the obvious results! This juvenile common tern was resting next to the outfall.

Monday, 20 July 2015. Barn Owl At Last. I have hardly been out this week except for Tuesday evening when I saw the barn owl. Out over the back fields near the sub station at Seasalter, a year tick for me. I had a short look over SS which looked quiet except for a buzzard so I continued onto Oare seeing the curlew sandpipers, Bonaparte's gull. And a little stint. Plus all the regulars. At the levels, 2 stonechats a few whitethroats, reed bunting and linnets plus a lovely view of a grasshopper warbler.

Thursday, 21 May 2015. Took a leisurely walk around Thornden Wood finding a couple of ponds with dragonflies on the wing. Also I saw several garden warblers, two that were especially close plus chiffchaffs and blackcaps. Only had the little bridge camera which gives a big depth of field but not a particularly detailed shot. Azure Damselfly - Coenagrion puella. The only 'blue' seen. Large Red Damselfly- Pyrrhosoma nymphula. Large red damselfly- never realized the female has blue legs! 21 May 2015 at 11:34.

Tuesday, 19 May 2015. Lesbos, Day 14. A beautiful sunny day, temperatures rising to 24 degs and no wind - the last day before going home a potential for some more ticks! There were c.20 birders at the viewpoint peering out to the south all the while Turkish holidaymakers were waving and tooting as they drove past wondering what all these strange people were doing! About Me And My Patch. Saturday, 8 August 2015. An off patch day today had me visiting Thursley Common with Marc Heath ( see his superb blog here. Dragon Habitat At Thursley. We spent 7 hours in glorious weather chasing down Dragonflies, of which we found 16 species, two of those being new to me, the Black Darter and the Common Hawker, although the latter only gave flight views, the former were seen in good numbers, giving lots of photo opportunities. About Me And My Patch. Monday, 31 August 2015. Heavy rain fell throughout most of the morning, but a short lived dry spell allowed me to make a circuit of Migrant Alley, before more rain curtailed the hour long walk. Looking back at my stats and comparing this August to the previous thirteen, they show this August had the fourth highest bird species total of 74. The sun went in for the last few shots, but they came out ok. Sunday, 30 August 2015. Needless to say not a single bird was seen in the vicinity!

The fine, sunny and warm weather didn't bring out many birds though, an early walk around the sheep pasture and paddocks of Migrant Alley was pretty birdless, just a few STARLINGS, Corvids and the odd flyover PIED WAGTAIL. About Me And My Patch. Friday, 22 May 2015. Early sunshine gave way to scattered cloud around 07:30hrs this morning, but it remained warmer than of late, with little wind. A quick circuit of Migrant alley was made first thing, I don't expect any passage migrants here now, but there again you never know! Anyway there wasn't any today, just 5 each of CANADA and GREYLAG GOOSE on one of the paddocks, plus a few LINNETS. Something at last to add to the May list!
