Follow Mike as he explores the backcountry. TOUGH DECISIONS: Await Paddlers on the Wappingers Creek’s Terminus. August 13, 2015. HOT, HUMID SUMMER DAYS MAKE TOUGH DECISIONS EVEN TOUGHER. The sun’s rays leak lethargy as the stillness of the air further exasperates inertness. I long for the water. Luckily the Wappingers Creek has the cure. I unload my kayak on the shoreline three-miles inland from its terminus. But a complete plunge as we four hurl our sunbaked bodies off Wappingers Falls’ rocky ledges.
