Reflections on programming, startup life, and self-indulgent nerdiness. January 29, 2015 at 10:57am. Body Parsers Through the Ages. How do file uploads actually work? What the hell is a body parser? This is a work-in-progress. Based on the discussion in this GitHub issue on the Skipper repo. How File Uploads Work. This is my first attempt at explaining the efficient handling of TB multipart file uploads using ASCII infographics, so please be patient :p. Ie the legacy Express/Connect body parser. Running ...

The new injector in Sails works by injecting a script tag into the raw HTML source, and stuffing the escaped version of your data (with all unsafe HTML characters encoded) inside. Then, by default, it also injects a pre-minified client-side unescape function (compatible with IE9 and up) that deals with de-scrambling HTML entities. Into the unsafe characters from whence they came. For more info, check out the official Sails.js roadmap. And the relevant proposal PR. Omg is that a memory leak? Before you ge...

Reflections on programming, startup life, and self-indulgent nerdiness. February 27, 2015 at 4:33pm. I’m teaching a live Sails.js course tomorrow. I’m teaching a live, interactive Sails.js course on Platzi. If you’re wondering what to expect, picture this: it’ll sort of be like we’re on the same basketball team, except instead of dribbling down the court with athletic celebrities, you’ll be writing code with some scrawny nerd from Tejas. Not sure you’re the intended audience? Here are the official deets:.

The Review Curmudgeon

Wherein I review books and the very occasional movie. Tuesday, 3 April 2018. My rating: 4 of 5 stars. I listened to the audiobook of this, rather than reading it in text form, and something I noticed, in part because of the format, was that there's often a lot of reflection (mostly backstory, or thinking through the implications of newly obtained information or recent events) in the midst of action. This doesn't do wonders for the pacing. It was a fun ride, and I'll happily keep following the series.
