Monster Raving Looney Party to be included in 2015 General Election TV debates? | Comms Corner

Mike Robb's blog on everything PR, corporate communications and social media. Monster Raving Looney Party to be included in 2015 General Election TV debates? Let’s face it. The seven strong TV debates rumoured yesterday. Are nothing short of a nonsense. While I absolutely agree that the SNP and Plaid should be on the billing on the televised Scottish and Welsh debates respectively, surely the focus in the limited time allowed for these nationally should be on the very real choices that each and every ind...

Mike Robb's blog on everything PR, corporate communications and social media. 2015 General Election: Some initial thoughts on a quite stunning night. The dust is still settling on the ash of many a political fire up and down the country, and the final few results are still to come in. But if the predicted 329 seats for the Conservatives materialise, or certainly a majority of 2-5 seats, then we could well have seen the worst possible result imaginable – for all concerned. Even if David Cameron secures co...

BBC White Paper: Only time will tell whether we, the viewers, are any the wiser. The White Paper for the overhaul and modernisation of the BBC was released this week, setting out the Government’s proposals for ensuring the right framework is in place to strengthen what is one of our greatest public institutions. Mike Robb's blog on everything PR, corporate communications and social media. Is the culture of breaking news destroying genuine analysis in the mainstream media? I chaired a roundtable discussion at Cicero Group. This week with Henry Mance, Media Correspondent at the Financial Times. And one of the big questions around the table was how media outlets can remain relevant to their core readership in a landscape which has seen such a rapid transformation in recent years. In a media landscape of intense com...

Mike Robb's blog on everything PR, corporate communications and social media. In conversation with a former Sunday Times section editor. I spoke to Nick Gardner, Senior Communications Counsel at Cicero Group, about his experiences working as Deputy Money Editor at the Sunday Times. He spills the beans on the demands of a hectic news room, the need for a strong book of PR contacts, his pet hates when engaging with comms professionals, and what he thinks about the future of the print media. April 27, 2015.

The Mike Robbins blog
The Mike Robbins blog. Travel, science, books. Whatever I feel like, really. Friday, 3 July 2015. Magic, or realism? Do you ever suspect that people write magical realism because it’s easier than realism? Plot a bit stuck? Stick in a flying pig. Character doesn’t quite work? Convert them into an angel). But now and then it just works. Some thoughts – and two recent books for the MR enthusiast. Was probably the book that “launched” magical realism for most Anglophone readers. García Márquez: magical hat?

Science, politics, and general geekiness, oh my! Friday, August 7, 2015. Fortune Favours the Old. I had my birthday recently and, much like last year. Got a joke present from a friend. This year though, it came with an explicit challenge to do something statistical with it. So for this blog post, my subject matter will be based on this box of fortune cookies:. So what stats can be pulled out of a box of fortune cookies? Of course, most fortunes just floated around without cookies. Here's what the distrib...

My New Website mikerobergeartiste.com
Greetings In the beginning, a visual artist I was, common sense I had none, money. Was a foreign substance, but balls I had. Documentation was something I and many others in the 70's did not take seriously-. You stopped a performance to take a few. Shots of the site, then went back to. Performing, never taking shots of the action itself, then stored the negatives in an old. Where they either disintegrated, collected dust and grime, or were lost and forgotten. And often, no shots were taken at all.
