I thought I had been in a blizzard before. I remember I was young, we lived in Ft. Story, and I remember people specifically using the word "blizzard," because it was the first time I heard it. Apparently things were way bigger in my memory, because this is a picture of the aftermath of my first "blizzard." You think you know everything when you're young. Yes, I'm still here. Sorry about the lapse in blog posts. Though I have been busy doing freelance photo work, I have also been busy going to school and working at a new job. I was, and still am, hesitant about telling people about my emerging new career, for fear that people will think that I've completely moved on from photography. I am still a photographer! So THIS is a Blizzard. I have to say, it was nice to have walking be the only option of transportation for that few days. We all got out of our houses, talked to our neighbors, and enjoyed a slower pace of time. It took only about 48 hours for that to end and for the rude honking of car vs. car in a one-lane street to begin. You can't win them all. I shot an American Legion baseball team from East Longmeadow, Mass. for the Springfield Republican last week. These guys made it all the way to the finals to lose to Branford, 2-1. Nonetheless, they were one of the most sportsmanlike teams I've seen in my day. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). I forgot how much I miss this. I shot portraits for the brother/sister band Mission 0, based here in New Haven. It was such a great experience that I decided it's time for me to get back into the game, not just into photojournalism but to specifically seek shooting more portraits. Little things that make me happy. U S Army Staff Sgt. Andrew Kelly and Kathlene Lopez-Martin, both of Waterbury, dance on the Wolcott Green to the gazebo during their wedding ceremony on Sunday. The couple originally scheduled their wedding for June 2011 but changed plans when Kelly was called to active duty in Iraq. Kelly will leave May 2. Opening Day of Trout Fishing 2010. Gilbert's Casey Ramthun competes in the long jump during Tuesday's track and field meet with Lewis Mills and Wamogo.

Now it's on to basketball season. I don't remember all this just because it was at Arlington cemetery or it was the steroids hearings. I remember almost every circumstance under which I shot a photo. I remember if I was in a hurry, if the subject was nice, if it was awkward, if there were any complaints about the photo, if there was a long wait, even if it was hard to tone.
