My balcony full of plants. My friends, old and new. Sleep, when I can get it. God, for giving us prayer, which gives us hope for miracles. Travelling Mercies by Anne Lamott (again). It's Easier Than You Think by Sylvia Boorstein. A lot of stuff for seminary : ). I am listening to. A lot of Andres Segovia.

Todd C's Blog: January 2015
http://toddfc.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Thoughts about life, God, family, friends, community, books, movies, music, and sports. Saturday, January 10, 2015. It's been a great Christmas season and new year; some highlights. Spent a fun and tiring Saturday with my father-in-law putting up Christmas lights. I've always been kind of lazy with this; never had a big desire to put up a lot of lights, just to take them down a few weeks later. Ashley had a fantastic first semester of college. She took some hard classes- Biology, Chemistry, Philosoph...

Todd C's Blog: People #5--Big Sis
http://toddfc.blogspot.com/2014/05/people-5-big-sis.html
Thoughts about life, God, family, friends, community, books, movies, music, and sports. Saturday, May 03, 2014. People #5- Big Sis. I'm writing a series of posts about some of the incredible people who have touched my life. Elise and I have been friends since college. We met in 1986 at the GMU/NOVA Community College Baptist Student Union. Of all my friends, Elise has probably shown me more patience and grace than anyone. She was ALWAYS there, incredibly dependable and supportive. In the late 90s Elise mo...

Todd C's Blog: June 2013
http://toddfc.blogspot.com/2013_06_01_archive.html
Thoughts about life, God, family, friends, community, books, movies, music, and sports. Thursday, June 27, 2013. The pictures below show what each of my boys did at the Burlington All-Comers Track Meet this summer. Over three weeks, the boys ran every Wednesday night against other kids their age. All runners received ribbons- blue, red or white for the top three in each age group, light blue "participant" ribbons for everyone else. At the second meet, we talked about him running some longer races. In...

me and my boys: December 2011
http://ilovemyguys.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html
Me and my boys. Tuesday, December 6, 2011. The boys discover how to climb on the outside of the staircase. The boys carve a pumpkin with "papa" in his workroom. Notice my father's steady hand while Harry literally hangs on him. Brice is psyched. Harry has zero interest in wearing his Thomas "costume." We told him, "no costume, no candy." He kept the front piece on, but tossed the hat as soon as he hit the sidewalk. Decorating our tree. This is the first year (in seven! We've had a proper Christmas tree (...

me and my boys: February 2012
http://ilovemyguys.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html
Me and my boys. Sunday, February 26, 2012. This is what Harry and I do in the afternoon- snuggle into my unmade bed, watch a little Thomas the Train and finish off my cold coffee, always on the bedside table. This is Brice the day after his sleep study. He fell asleep in the van on the way home from school at 4pm, moved to my bed at 5pm, his bed at 7pm, and slept until 6am. I guess he was tired. Brice is having a time-out in the hallway. Scully watches from nearby. Happy Valentine's Day, Harry! Some comm...

What is Pub Theology? Pub Theology Live Podcast. Archive by Category "Worship". February 12, 2016. I had the privilege of attending an Ash Wednesday Mass at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, near Catholic University in NE Washington DC this week. I haven’t often made a big production out of Lent, in my personal life nor in congregational settings (production might be the wrong word here observance? In North America. I am one who is quick to question, wonder, and ask wh...

me and my boys: Where we've been
http://ilovemyguys.blogspot.com/2015/02/where-weve-been.html
Me and my boys. Friday, February 27, 2015. Here we are (represented by Harry, I guess) at Sonny Acres farm in West Chicago. It's one of those places that has lots of rides and games that cost tons of money, then they sell you overpriced, misshapen pumpkins. The kids had fun. I always get nervous putting them on those rides that look like they've been set up in a half hour by 16 year olds. But everyone survived. Do all younger kids try to skate by on the hard work of his or her older sibling? Sigh Harry w...

The unnecessarily detailed account of my new, long-awaited, custom Paul Soupiset tattoo
http://jakebouma.com/soupiset-tattoo
The unnecessarily detailed account of my new, long-awaited, custom Paul Soupiset tattoo. May 30, 2011. In October 2009, while attending the Christianity 21. Conference in Minneapolis, my friend Mike Stavlund. Offhandedly composed and sent the above tweet. First, a little bit of context: Christianity 21 was a gathering of emergent-type Christians (put on by JoPa Productions. The first is that before the event began, a dedicated Twitter hashtag. As a live-sketcher during every single session. While the...
