Welcome to the music website for Congregation Mikveh Israel. In Philadelphia, the second oldest synagogue on the United States, founded in 1740. Mikveh Israel, a Sephardic congregation, follows the Spanish-Portuguese minhag in its liturgical and musical traditions. The purpose of this site is to make the music of the Philadelphia Sephardic tradition available to the public, as well as to congregants who wish to prepare more thoroughly for participation in services.

It is a good idea to be one of the first Mikveh goers in the morning while the water is still fresh. Don’t toivel dishes in the Mikveh. No one wants to eat off of those. Take a shower before you dunk. Don’t join someone in the shower. It is creepy. No Camera Phones in the Mikveh. Always bring your own towel. If there is a line waiting to dunk don’t touch anyone. Never start going down the steps towards the water until the other person gets completely out of the Mikveh to avoid the eye level view.
