The Cairo Experiment: The Lady's Admirers
http://thecairoexperiment.blogspot.com/2010/06/ladys-admirers.html
Tuesday, June 29, 2010. A young restaurant cook prepares traditional Egyptian Hawawshi and Tajen as takeaway. Customers line up waiting for their Mombar orders. Men of all ages congregate and socialise on roadside coffee shops such as this one. Labels: al-gahsh. al-refai. June 29, 2010 at 7:49 PM. June 29, 2010 at 9:10 PM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Thursday, July 29, 2010. Cairo's Drug Culture: Part 2 - The Hashish Dilemma. Hashish is usually sold in the form of fingers, with one being called a 'kersh' or 'coin' amongst other nicknames derived from historical usage when it was sold more openly using weights and scales. Whether true or not, the history of hashish in Egypt is an interesting one, and as long time moves forward, more history will be made. Tuesday, July 27, 2010. The Cairo Experiment: Pause Cairo: Play El-Sahel (Part 2 - Taposiris Magna Revisited)

Sunday, August 8, 2010. Pause Cairo: Play El-Sahel (Part 2 - Taposiris Magna Revisited). I did not get much sleep the night before last, with Taposiris Magna on my mind, and myself in it's vicinity. I decided to see it again, this time with more eye for detail and the surrounding areas. I packed my camera and wore my heavy-duty clothes (perhaps heavily-worn clothes would be a more accurate term) and set for the ancient ruins again. The main enterance to the temple enclosure. A closer look at the stonewor...

The Cairo Experiment: Pause Cairo: Play Suez (Part 1 - Exploration)

Sunday, July 25, 2010. Pause Cairo: Play Suez (Part 1 - Exploration). The city is quite small, with the governate boundaries coinciding with the city's limits. It was also seen as an important town in the past, with a branch of the Nile river reaching the town even before the canal was dug in the 19th century. It was used as a naval station by the Turks in the 16th century. El-Corniche is one of the large, beautiful and, most of all, lonely boulevards of Suez. One of the brine canals of Suez. Sunday, July 4, 2010. The 17th floor of the Om Kalthoum Hotel. The order took a little while to arrive, but was definitely worth the wait. The selection was fabulous, and definitely felt fresh, with sparks of unexpected flavors, probably due to the chef's creativity in preparing the rolls and sushi. I personally felt like we have discovered a gold mine. There was no one else there yet the place was fabulous! It all ended in a classic Cairo traffic jam on the way home. Such a bipolar city. The Cairo Experiment: Egypt's 2011
http://thecairoexperiment.blogspot.com/2011/12/egypts-2011.html
Wednesday, December 28, 2011. 2011 has been a tumultuous year for Egypt. Things will never be the same again, no matter how hard anyone tries to bring back the false comfort of the previous regime's rule. Even though divisions have formed midst the people on how they want Egypt to be, one thing most people can agree on is that totalitarianism will not be tolerated.
