Guide to making Anglo-Saxon Weapons and Equipment. These pages are a guide to making the basic equipment and clothing of an Anglo-Saxon warrior of the sixth century, together with a few pages on some more advanced projects. Woollen material is best sewn with tapestry wool. This is generally four ply and should be split down to two ply before use. Linen garments should be sewn with strong linen thread. Clothing can be decorated with tablet weaving. As this gives a strong even stitch. Back to the main page.

For people who want to learn more about the early Anglo-Saxons and for foreign visitors to England here is a list (with links) of some sites of interest. The British Museum holds the best collection of Anglo-Saxon artefacts in the country. Most of the Sutton Hoo treasures are here although some are now on loan to the new visitors centre at Sutton Hoo.
