Cosmic Cinema: October 2008
http://cosmic-cinema.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html
Friday, October 31, 2008. Time was our only option for movies was to see them at the theatre, or wait a year or more for them to play on cable or make it to home video. And if you didn't have cable or a VCR? You could always go visit your friend across town and check out the stores in their neighborhood. Funny thing is we actually have less of a selection on DVD than we did on VHS. Our choices have literally dwindled down to the same handful of regurgitated Hollywood titles carried by every chain sto...

Wednesday, April 29, 2009. Galactica Saga: Phoenix Rising - Part 1, Act 4. Phoenix Rising - Part 1, Act 4. By C Demetrius Morgan. From the Aella Chronicle:. ACT IV - ESCAPE. Was that what Warriors would be after the Armistice, archaic relics? They look a lot older than the Starhound's we flew back on Gemoni. No worse for wear though. ". What were you expecting, Egg, shiny new Vipers? Be nice. Still I thought they'd have something better than old MK II's.". Hey, you're right. They're much bigger.". The la...

Cosmic Cinema: Of Hercules, Giant Robots, and Reviews
http://cosmic-cinema.blogspot.com/2009/08/of-hercules-giant-robots-and-reviews.html
Wednesday, August 5, 2009. Of Hercules, Giant Robots, and Reviews. Having recently purchased the double feature of Hercules/Adventure of Hercules for the princely sum of $3 at a Big Lots I was working on a review of both movies. But, try as I might, the second movie is a brain freeze. I find myself pausing the movie, noting the time on the counter, then ejecting the disc. Why? A wise [expletive deleted] once said that "great minds think alike" and a recent discovery of a review at Black Gate. View my com...

Monday, August 24, 2009. Dealing with MSN as an ISP and their Tech Support. And 10 Things I've Learned after 2 Weeks of Updates gone Wrong and a day Wasted Waiting on hold between being shunted from one Call Center to the next. Lamentations of a Man who Thought the Problem had been Fixed. 1 Tech support is a misnomer. Tech savvy they're not (9 times out of 10). 2 You can never get a straight answer but will learn to either endure their "agents" (when did "operators" go out of style? 5 While waiting to be...

http://cosmic-cinema.blogspot.com/2009/08/eugenics-movies-and-apocalypse.html
Sunday, August 23, 2009. Eugenics, Movies, and the Apocalypse. And then there's the talk/discussion/shouting matches about healthcare, death panels, progressives, Nazi's, and yet more talk about eugenics. We'll begin by quoting from APPLIED EUGENICS by Paul Popenoe, originally published circa 1918 (Full text here: http:/ www.gutenberg.org/etext/19560. How is this to be accomplished? One may wonder how such ideas came into being. As the author states in his introduction:. The Great War has caused a vast d...

Cosmic Cinema: Word of Warning RE: the Microsoft Network
http://cosmic-cinema.blogspot.com/2009/08/word-of-warning-re-microsoft-network.html
Monday, August 10, 2009. Word of Warning RE: the Microsoft Network. Goodbye Again Friends,. Something is fishy in Denmark. Now "hack" may seem like a harsh word to use. But read on. Currently there is a way for me to access the Internet, but it's round about. Considering this is a paid for service which is suddenly being denied with absolutely NO forewarning AND my IP installed something on my system without my consent I find this disturbing. I am NOT a happy customer. I do not know. What's up with that?

Cosmic Cinema: June 2008
http://cosmic-cinema.blogspot.com/2008_06_01_archive.html
Sunday, June 22, 2008. A Sound of Thunder. The Sci-Fi Channel advertised A Sound of Thunder. The second I saw that promo I knew I had to see this. Alas the fact I had never heard of this before it's airing on sciffy should have been a clue. . . Run a time travel safari that sends rich fat slobs back in time to hunt, er, I mean kill extinct animals. To be more specific they are going back to a specific point in time to kill a T-rex moments before it falls into a tar pit. Why? That pyroclastic flow seemed ...
