Swim, Bike, Run | Mind Migrations

Let your mind migrate and see where it takes you…. Skip to primary content. Swim, Bike, Run. May 20, 2012. When I was younger I thought maybe it would be cool to run a marathon. As I got older I realized that I just don’t like running, so the thought of running 26.2 miles just holds no appeal to me. (Do you know what happened to the guy who ran the first “marathon”? In the transition area before the race. I had a bucket which I painted fluorescent pink so I could find my bike quickly at each transition.

Science is Beautiful: Making Rainbows | Mind Migrations
https://mindmigrations.wordpress.com/2012/04/05/science-is-beautiful-making-rainbows
Let your mind migrate and see where it takes you…. Skip to primary content. Science is Beautiful: Making Rainbows. April 5, 2012. All windows should have a prism in them, especially the windows at elementary schools. Rachel got a nice little prism for her birthday last year and recently stuck it in the window. We have been treated to an almost daily (cloudy days are the exception) technicolor display of light refraction. Check out the intensity of those colors! This entry was posted in My Life.

Southard Exposure: April 2011
http://southardexposure.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html
Sunday, April 10, 2011. Now the real reason for the sudden onset in posting comes out. Last year, if you will recall, I made meatloaf cupcakes and ice cream mash potatoes for dinner-met with mixed reviews. This year, while I had researched some ideas, the actual day snuck up on me. I fact, as late as 11 AM I was congratulating my neighbor on her strike early method of April Fool's. She hid leftover Halloween spiders in her children's morning Orange Julius. Good thing I have Jared. Henry drinking his nood...
Southard Exposure: July 2011
http://southardexposure.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
Wednesday, July 20, 2011. One thing I will certainly miss during the years after my children are older than say 7, and until I have grandchildren, are these little programs they do in their preschool and early elementary years. Not the kind where the whole school comes to hear you sing, but the Mother's Day programs where the class does something special just for you. We had to wait out in the hall until they were all ready. He is a very energetic singer, always with a huge smile. What can we say? Love l...
Southard Exposure: Critters
http://southardexposure.blogspot.com/2013/08/critters.html
Friday, August 30, 2013. I am afraid to go out at night. It is not the urban environment. I am not afraid of my neighbors or of crime. It's the creepy crawlies. Even now, as I write, I can hear them. There are actually hundreds of little bugs that take kamikaze flights into our closed windows every evening. If I open the front door when the porch light has been on, dozens of things scatter and retreat into the darkness. Apparently, I inherited that quality. There are dragonflies everywhere. We like to wr...
Southard Exposure: September 2013
http://southardexposure.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html
Sunday, September 29, 2013. Making a house a home is more than just the THINGS you put in it. It is most certainly about the people you have in it, and the general spirit that pervades. But things help- don't they? You can see then why we endured two weeks of flooring mess and headache:. I tried an embarrassing number of paint colors before I found the perfect one:. I think it worked, what do you think? They had a dining area, we put the office:. And after(still have pictures to put up in here):. After a...
Southard Exposure: Bananas and Pie
http://southardexposure.blogspot.com/2013/08/bananas-and-pie.html
Tuesday, August 27, 2013. When I was little I liked to make up nick names for everyone. I called my grandparents Grooma and Groompa. I called my best friend Biz Bleach. I called my mom Salami (yes, she was and is very patient and accommodating to my creativity). My boys have also picked up some strange words over the last few months. It started with Jack, as most things do, and spread to Henry, and then Eleanor just repeats whatever they say. Jack's one word that will define summer 2013: Pie. Eleanor: Th...
Southard Exposure: Having a Girl
http://southardexposure.blogspot.com/2011/11/having-girl.html
Friday, November 4, 2011. One of the few things I was looking forward to with having a girl is having someone who wanted to just sit down and color, or cut and paste, or just be crafty. Eleanor loves to do those things. It is so fun. We do playdough we color, we cut and paste. One of the leaders of my church gave a great talk on how women are naturally good at creating. We are. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). What can we say? We like to write. But most importantly, we just can't justify television.
Southard Exposure: September 2011
http://southardexposure.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html
Tuesday, September 20, 2011. Staycation Days 3 and 4. We spent day three in Salt Lake. We drove up and parked in the UTA ride free zone. We took Trax down to the gateway and watched a 3D movie about two women who spent their lives rescuing elephants and monkeys. Very enjoyable. We wandered through temple square, enjoyed lunch at the Lion House restaurant, talked with a few missionaries. So, we went home to prepare for Day 5. But, we ended up tailgating at the zoo before we went in. There e also several m...
Southard Exposure: The Perfect Cookie
http://southardexposure.blogspot.com/2013/08/the-perfect-cookie.html
Sunday, August 4, 2013. I have long been on a quest to bake the perfect cookie. I had my first perfect cookie in Junior high, at my dear friend Sarah's house. They were just chocolate chip. Nothing fancy. In their family, no cooling racks are used, just let them rest for a minute on the cookie sheet, then transfer to foil on the counter. I thought perhaps this was the secret: cooling on foil. So, I tried that. My cookies still lacked form and plumpness. I told myself it was the altitude in Utah. They sti...

Southard Exposure: Brothers
http://southardexposure.blogspot.com/2011/11/brothers.html
Friday, November 4, 2011. My grandma asked me all the time, "And what about those two boys, do they get along? Then to my affirmative answer she says, "oh good. You know my two brothers always did. The were the best of friends.". Don't get me wrong. Jack and Henry know how to fight. They know all too well what will annoy the other one. But they do play together very well. They do best at things like this. Crazy, outdoor things with no rules or limitations. Just acting silly. What can we say?
