The Minikahda Club Grounds Department. Wednesday, January 29, 2014. City of the Lakes Loppet and The Minikahda Club. It really is an honor for our staff to know the City of the Lakes Loppet has chosen to add our trail system to the races. One of our members, Tom Haeg, who is also Chairman of the Nordic Committee, was greatly involved in getting our trail system included in the Loppet and has been a big help in preparing us for the event. The Minikahda Club Grounds Department: Winter Detail Projects
http://minikahdagrounds.blogspot.com/2014/03/winter-detail-projects.html
The Minikahda Club Grounds Department. Wednesday, March 19, 2014. Typically we use the 150 stakes to indicate hole locations on the green, indicating the front, middle and back locations. On the previous stakes a colored plastic cap was utilized. The trick for this process was to find a way to use the Ipe wood and have an interchangeable cap and one that would fit properly on the wood without spinning. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The Minikahda Club Grounds Department: June 2014
http://minikahdagrounds.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
The Minikahda Club Grounds Department. Thursday, June 19, 2014. Latest Course Condition Report. The beginning of 9 fairway. A nice river of water coming down 9. The right rough of 9. The creek over the banks on 13. One of the worst bunkers on the course, 12 green. Thankfully due to the construction of the bunker 12 years ago, this is as bad as it gets. The bunker behind 14 green is the only one still holding water. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Latest Course Condition Report. Alyssa Schell, Horticultrist.

The Minikahda Club Grounds Department: August 2013
http://minikahdagrounds.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html
The Minikahda Club Grounds Department. Monday, August 12, 2013. The Best the Course has Ever Been. It's always such a nice compliment from members when they tell you the golf course is in the best condition it has ever been in. A few of us in the Grounds Department joke about this comment. So its better than last year when that comment was made? Is the golf course is better than the 2007 Trans-Mississippi Championship event or the 1998 Curtis Cup? It may. I know our plants are able to go to lower soi...

The Minikahda Club Grounds Department. Wednesday, June 12, 2013. Careful Practice or Careless Practice? It's Up To You, the Player. Since the construction of our new practice tee, I'm constantly being asked how long will it take for the tee to recover? How long before we are back to the front of the tee and will it be recovered? Many factors factor into the recovery of the tee. Weather, water, fertilizer and. How the players choose to practice. This photo is a much better example of how we would like pla...

The Minikahda Club Grounds Department: And They're Off
http://minikahdagrounds.blogspot.com/2014/04/and-theyre-off.html
The Minikahda Club Grounds Department. Wednesday, April 9, 2014. The greens covers were removed yesterday. The staff endured a steady breeze all day, a few times having to fight the wind and hold on to the cover with all their might. Fortunately we had a staff of 16 to aid with the removal process. It's easy to see why so many are required to removed the covers. Any amount of wind and the covers and foam will blow away. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Derek Oster, Assistant Superintendent. The Minikahda Club Grounds Department. Wednesday, March 26, 2014. Based on the 10 day forecast we looking at covers remaining on the greens for at least another week. If conditions change we may be looking at the week of April 7th to remove covers. It's always difficult to make predictions to far in advance this time of year so obviously we will make our decisions on a day by day basis and bring seasonal staff in as soon as the weather allows. The Minikahda Club Grounds Department. Monday, July 15, 2013. Jack Kolb, Past Minikahda Superintendent Passed Away. Minnesota Golf Course Superintendents' Association. July 14, 2013. Upon discharge, he enrolled at the University of Minnesota, intent on being a forester; however, he felt that a certain dark-eyed young lady was not about to be a homemaker in a cabin deep in the woods. So, after a change in majors, and 240 credits later, he was graduated with a degree in Plant Industry. A visitation will be...
