Make It a Masterpiece: 01/01/2015 - 02/01/2015
http://minnesotadon.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Make It a Masterpiece. Don's Daily Running Log. Friday, January 30, 2015. I'm aiming for a 10- or 12-mile run Sunday or Monday, so I just wanted a fairly short run today and perhaps a walking-only day tomorrow. I ran/walked in a ratio of 1 to 1 (actually 60 to 60 paces) and in a time of 39:14, for an overall pace of 11:32, exactly the same as Wednesday's five-mile pace. 61 miles this month. A little more mileage would be better - a few less short runs and a few more longer ones. Links to this post. Altho...

Make It a Masterpiece. Don's Daily Running Log. Monday, November 17, 2014. MEC Vancouver Marathon Review. Sunday, November 16, 2014:. This is a low-budget marathon where everything is easy. Register online for $25 CAD, show up, and run. Marathon number 85 since my myeloma diagnosis, in 5:46:44, about eight minutes faster than the most recent marathon in Ottawa. He passed me three times in the race, greeted me at the finish, and we did a little press interview together after the finish. He's my hero.

Make It a Masterpiece. Don's Daily Running Log. Sunday, July 05, 2015. Just joking. At 7:00 am four miles of walking in 56 minutes, then two hours of lawn mowing and another hour prepping a wall for painting, and in the afternoon 12 miles on the bike in 60 minutes. Make It a Masterpiece. Don's Daily Running Log. Friday, May 29, 2015. Building back up from the hamstring injury. Today I ran/walked in a ratio of 1 to 2, five miles in 1:01:41, for a pace of 12:19. It seems like the pace should work out to be a little quicker, especially since I pushed the run/walk ratio a little on downhills, but the figures don't lie. Biking is good too. It may not be good training for running, but it's great exercise and helps preserve an overall level of fitness. Thursday, May 28:.

Make It a Masterpiece. Don's Daily Running Log. Sunday, May 10, 2015. Sunday, May 10, 2015:. I am training for a marathon, even though I don't really know when the next one will be. This is a change. I have run marathon after marathon, getting slower and slower, so now I'm trying to do it right, actually training for one. Running through neighborhoods, the smells are interesting. Early I smelled a wood fire - someone was taking the edge off the cool weather with their fireplace or stove. Then I s...Subsc...

Life is an exercise (Walk/Bike/possible run?): November 2014
http://runlondell.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Life is an exercise (Walk/Bike/possible run? Sunday, November 30, 2014. RIP my hairy friend. My girlfriend called me yesterday while I was in Duluth on a short vacation. She informed me she had to make the decision to put Jackson, the best Golden Retriever I have ever known, down. She needed to do it, sooner than later. Just like Annie before him, he was recently riddled with health issues in his old age (over 77 dog years). For almost two months his health diminished. Jackson was no ordinary dog. He alw...
Life is an exercise (Walk/Bike/possible run?): September 2014
http://runlondell.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Life is an exercise (Walk/Bike/possible run? Friday, September 26, 2014. Another Month, another life taken…. I spent the better part of the morning crying for someone I had only briefly known. A young man of 16 decided life was not worth continuing and ended his life. That makes 8 people I knew personally this year and then there are the four I knew of but no personal connection who took their lives as well. I will never understand, but at times I wonder if I do? I explained life is what we make of it.

Life is an exercise (Walk/Bike/possible run? Monday, March 23, 2015. Tonight I spent time going through my photo library. I am hoping to be very organized going into the 2015 photo season. I found a few I had forgot about but was pleased with he outcome. They are below. Near Mount Evans in Colorado at dusk. Woodstock, Vermont shooting some black and white. Carry on my friends. Sunday, March 22, 2015. On the seventh day, even God rested. This evening I watched the last film Robin Williams. It was 2:00 AM ...
Life is an exercise (Walk/Bike/possible run?): December 2014
http://runlondell.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Life is an exercise (Walk/Bike/possible run? Wednesday, December 10, 2014. Mitral, aorta and bears, oh my. On November 1, I wrote about some theories I have about my health. I was having chest pains and I just thought they were related to stress. I experienced chest pains on and off for over a decade so this time I went to a cardiac specialist. I initially had an EKG. That was just a little off, but close to normal. So then came the echocardiogram, then…. I also have a slight leak in the mitral valve.
Life is an exercise (Walk/Bike/possible run?): August 2015

Life is an exercise (Walk/Bike/possible run? Friday, August 28, 2015. I tried to take a much-needed vacation last week. So far this year I have lost 7 vacations days, as I am an idiot and not using them. I was looking forward to a little time off. Work has calmed a little. We have filled the open positions and they are very high quality individuals. The female we hired 6 months ago is one of the best I have worked with and it is a pleasure to have such skilled workers. Read about it here. I seem to be gr...

Make It a Masterpiece
Make It a Masterpiece. Don's Daily Running Log. Saturday, February 17, 2018. A couple of weeks ago I had a good one-mile run at the track, felt fine, but the next day had a serious case of bursitis in the right hip. I couldn’t do much more than walk for most of the next week, but it’s fully recovered now. That mile was 10:27, and I ran another four laps before walking. 54 right turns, maybe the cause of the bursitis. Links to this post. Saturday, January 27, 2018. Mile and a Half. At three it’s get...
