My Addictions...Handcrafted Jewelry by Patti: It's finally Friday!
http://myaddictionshandcrafted.blogspot.com/2015/06/its-finally-friday.html
Friday, June 12, 2015. I had a couple of hours to spend in my studio this week. I spent of an hour or so fiddling with my still-new-to-me rolling mill and it is getting easier to create an impression on the metal! One of these days, I am going to find some bravery and slip some sterling through this thing.that day has not yet arrived! However, the copper is working! I can actually "feel" the texture on the copper - which makes this girl very happy! Note - twisted wire becomes quite fidgety when wrapping!

The sparkle of life has long since left my tired eyes. Years of neglect have brought me here. A steel hand is all that I have felt. The bang of an auction gavel sealed my fate. The huge steel truck stands before me. But a golden ray of sunshine comes upon me. A soft voice whispers in my drooping ears. A gentle hand touches my tired withers. Although I flinch, I do not feel the sting of a whip. Calming words and a soothing voice ease my fears. A halter and lead rope are gently placed on me. Please contact...

Wednesday, April 29, 2015. Written by Patti Vanderbloemen of My Addictions Handcrafted Jewelry. I have had this ceramic focal from Karen Totten of Starry Road Studio. For quite awhile now. I have made more than several attempts to incorporate this focal into a necklace - but nothing I came up with worked for me. Everything I tried seemed to take away from the simplicity of the beads, which by the way, I absolutely adore! Well, I also still had 3 of the copper bails left that I made last week. Thanks so m...

Tuesday, June 16, 2015. There are days I sit in my studio in a complete stupor - there are so many techniques/tools/beads - you name it - that I want to try, but there is no mojo. None. Zippo. Zilch. It can be so depressing. Today was NOT one of those days. So, I have had these beads by Judith Billig sitting on my bench for about 4 months now. Photo and Beads by Judith Billig. See the striations of color? And, Judith gave these a matte finish, so appropriate with this pastel palette. The last time I made...

Monday, July 6, 2015. Where have I been? Oh my, but it has been a while since I have blogged! Well, my niece, her husband, baby and their precious pup Griffin moved out of my house and into their new home last week. Their home is absolutely gorgeous, and I wish them many, many years of happiness in their new digs! While my blogging has been sparse, I have managed to make a few new things, though, including a few new spinner rings. The brushed sterling silver, below, is a new favorite texture! So, I had t...

Wednesday, April 1, 2015. In honor of Dorothy Zbornak. The earring style that I ALWAYS gravitate towards is the hoop. In fact, my jewelry box is overflowing with hoops: from teeny tiny to oh-my-gosh-my-ears-hurt-large. I particularly like the look of mixed metal earrings (mixed metal anything, as a matter of fact). While I do love the look of these hoops, I already have a very similar pair - in my ears as I type this, as a matter of fact. I am sure this factoid makes my mother so proud of me! So well dre...

Wednesday, April 8, 2015. I am officially in love. With Precious Metal Clay! Still waiting on my kiln to arrive, but I am continuing to practice! I missed working with my copper, so I made this to compensate. Thank goodness I have made bangles like these before, sans the silver. Although I have seen bracelets similar to these before, I turned to a book that I have had for a couple of months now. Nothing like step by step directions! As a matter of fact, the Art Jewelry Elements. Labels: Mixed Metal Bangle.
