So I haven't blogged for a while - what has been. Yes, I am decorating my living room, it is taking ages as I cannot do very much in one session. I have had to put two coats of paint on all the walls as I am painting the room a lighter colour, I am almost finished, just one more wall to do. The Farmer's Wife Day by Day. Monday, 10 August 2015. Harvesting: the Next Stage. The next step after the barley has been safely gathered in is to bale the straw. The straw needs to be dry before this can be done so it is turned in the sun before it is roared up ready to be baled. Nearly all our straw is baled into small bales. This suits our purpose best as it is used for bedding for sheep and horses. The baler draws the straw up into the machine. They then may need to be manually adjusted into place.

Things . 101 and 52. Friday, 7 August 2015. I'm Following a Tree August 2015. It's time for the August visit to see how my tree is getting on. I wasn't expecting any significant changes from last month and that's exactly what I found! The female catkins are continuing to swell in size and the tree is covered in them. The majority of them are green . Strangely, there appears to still be a few tiny male catkins remaining. Some of the leaves are providing nourishment for visitors to the tree. The bark is go...
