Sewn Through a Loop: Hipster Scarves
http://misadventurescrafting.blogspot.com/2011/09/hipster-scarves.html
Thursday, September 29, 2011. I found this tutorial. And have been really excited to try it out. After fumbling around with the ruffle shirt, finally ripping out that bad seam, and sewing the back of the shirt on, I decided that, instead of tackling the next step of adding the sleeves, I'd try making some hipster t-shirt scarves. I also decided to take some hipster picture glam shots for good measure. How to: Make Re-purposed Hipster Scarves out of Old T-Shirts. Cut the hem off the bottom of the t-shirt.
Sewn Through a Loop: Second Shirt Finished!
http://misadventurescrafting.blogspot.com/2011/10/second-shirt-finished.html
Saturday, October 1, 2011. I struggled and labored over this shirt for what seemed like forever, but I finally finished it. The lace ruffle trim shirt:. Sorry for the awful pictures throughout this post! I was forced to take these pictures on my own as the boyfriend was still in class when I finished the shirt and I was overzealous and wanted the pictures ASAP. I started out by printing out about 40 pages and piecing together the pattern and taping it together. Printing out patterns at home sucks. The ri...

Sewn Through a Loop: Adventures in Mildly EXTREME Couponing
http://misadventurescrafting.blogspot.com/2011/10/adventures-in-mildly-extreme-couponing.html
Tuesday, October 4, 2011. Adventures in Mildly EXTREME Couponing. I watch Extreme Couponing. It's a guilty pleasure of mine. The other day on TLC, they were having a marathon leading up to either the season finale or a new season premiere. I can't remember which. I laid on the couch, a veritable vegetable at this point, and watched for hours as these insane women (and men) triumphed over the greedy corporate grocery stores and saved upwards of 90% on their ridiculously large totals. Next, I got Dove deod...

Leaving the Oven On: Russian Date Night
http://misadventurescooking.blogspot.com/2011/11/russian-date-night.html
Saturday, November 19, 2011. So I haven't updated in ages, thank you internship, job, and school. The boyfriend and I had our Russian date night a couple of weeks ago, but regardless, it needs to be documented. Beef and Pork Pelmeni. We shall begin our adventures with the pelmeni, so good we made them two nights in a row. I got the recipe here. And modified it a bit the second time to include fresh chives. Rolled out the discs of dough and filled them with a rounded teaspoon-ful of the filling. And learn...

Leaving the Oven On: March 2012
http://misadventurescooking.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
Tuesday, March 20, 2012. Tofu with Peanut-Ginger Sauce. After spending the weekend traumatizing ourselves by watching Food, Inc. And Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead. Consecutively on Netflix, the boyfriend and I have decided to shape up our eating acts. Gone are the days of working late followed by rushed fast food runs for fat-laden sustenance! Gone are the sodium-heavy frozen dinners for lunch! Gone are the butter and jam smeared bagels gulped down each morning! Prepare a meal with tofu that he actually likes.

Leaving the Oven On: Thanksgiving Extravaganza!
http://misadventurescooking.blogspot.com/2011/11/thanksgiving-extravaganza.html
Thursday, November 24, 2011. I made it through Thanksgiving day and managed to cook an entire Thanksgiving dinner, even it was for only the boyfriend and I. I mentioned in my last post that I was going to be trying out some pumpkin pie variations in preparation for the holidays. I managed to churn out a pumpkin cheesecake and pumpkin cream cheese cupcakes in the four days I had before Thanksgiving. The pumpkin cheesecake recipe. Fill spring-form pan, bake, and voila! Thank you, Martha Stewart. I ended up...

Leaving the Oven On: Just an Epicurious Kind of Evening
http://misadventurescooking.blogspot.com/2011/09/just-epicurious-kind-of-evening.html
Monday, September 12, 2011. Just an Epicurious Kind of Evening. After our big shopping spree at Costco, my cooking has taken a nosedive. While I've still been making attempts at baking, most of the groceries we bought were frozen ready-made foods and an absolutely excessive amount of bread products. As such, we've been eating lots and lots of sandwiches, frozen pizza, and not a lot of my typical home cooking. Cue Epicurious and their recipe for Pasta with Spicy Shrimp and Sun-Dried Tomatoes. Then forming...

Leaving the Oven On: Mambo Italiano
http://misadventurescooking.blogspot.com/2011/09/mambo-italiano.html
Friday, September 23, 2011. What are my two favorite Italian foods? Well, tonight at least, they're pizza and biscotti. We started dinner with homemade chicken and sun-dried tomato pizza. Roll out pizza dough on greased cookie sheet - pre-bake for 5 minutes at 400 degrees. Brush with garlic-infused olive oil. Top with sliced onions, shredded cheese, cooked and shredded chicken (about 2 breasts worth), drained oil-packed sun-dried tomatoes, and approximately 4 oz of Neufchatal cheese. I used this recipe.

Leaving the Oven On: Chocolate Walnut Meringues
http://misadventurescooking.blogspot.com/2011/10/chocolate-walnut-meringues.html
Wednesday, October 5, 2011. Hard to spell, but sweet to eat. We went to Costco the other day with the plans of stocking our freezer and pantry once again and I had planned on buying bulk baking supplies since I always run out. Case of evaporated milk, case of condensed milk, ridiculous amounts of powdered and brown sugar, 10 cup bag of walnuts, etc. etc. What I did not buy, however, was that baking staple to end all baking staples. Unfortunately, we didn't end up going to Publix. 6 ounces Chocolate Chips.

Wednesday, August 31, 2011. Cheesy Tuna Casserole with Bacon. Ive been in a comfort food kind of mood. Its been raining, drizzling, overcast, and depressing all week in so-called Sunny Florida. That, combined with cold air conditioning will leave anyone with cravings for a warm, fattening casserole. Tuesday, August 30, 2011. Warm Turkey and Bruschetta Subs. The boyfriend and I went to the gym today and then he had to study for med school. Peanut butter and jelly? Surely I could do better than that. Layer...

http://misadventurescooking.blogspot.com/2011/09/ay-yi-yi-alfajores.html
Saturday, September 10, 2011. I was in a baking mood last night and, for some reason, was on an evaporated milk kick. I browsed the internet for at least an hour looking for the perfect recipe to use up one of my cans of evaporated milk. From Carnation promised me South American wonderfulness. The amazing Argentinian, Peruvian, and Arabic (? I used the Carnation recipe for the Dulce de Leche filling. I combined this recipe. In order to make the cookies. I then set to work on making the dough. After makin...

Misadventures, Rants, and Tidbits (by beth). Do you know what? I'm going to start a new blog. I set this one up just as I was entering a really low point in my life. On a happiness scale of 1 - 10 (with 10 being supercalifragalisticexpealidocious, and me normally falling around an 8 b/c I'm usually stuck in my own head happily dreaming up stuff to do, which, if I were actually doing them, would bump me up to a 9 or 10. Ick Over it I say! Could I keep going with this blog? Rainbows and Lollipops, Betches!
