Misha's Reads: October 2007

http://mishareads.blogspot.com/2007_10_01_archive.html

Saturday, October 27, 2007. Waiting for Birdy: A Year of Frantic Tedium, Neurotic Angst, and the Wild Magic of Growing a Family by Catherine Newman. I am now a sucker for a good, funny parenting memoir or blog. Yes, as soon as I went preggo, I couldn't get enough of the stuff. Catherine Newman's memoir is one of the best. I laughed, nodded, exclaimed "amen, sister! Read bits aloud and in general just thoroughlly enjoyed myself. But my friend. Thursday, October 11, 2007. Serious Girls by Maxine Swann.

Misha's Reads

Saturday, November 10, 2007. Bridge of Sighs by Richard Russo. Richard Russo is becoming one of my favorite authors. He brings to his writing the kind of compassion and understanding for humanity that I have found in George Eliot, which can be a balm in the thick of the overly cynical, clever books that keep getting churned out to no end. His latest is the perfect book for a reader who enjoys character. It's all about character development, and little else, honestly. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Misha's Reads: September 2007

http://mishareads.blogspot.com/2007_09_01_archive.html

Thursday, September 27, 2007. Blindness by Jose Saramago. I have been hearing for years how I simply must read Saramago. But sometimes I don't pick up much-lauded books until I end of scheduling them for my book group. Article was utterly fascinating. The Godmother by Carrie Adams. I picked up this one as an antidote to. The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie. Saturday, September 15, 2007. The Emperor's Children by Claire Messud. And Julia Glass' The Whole World Over.

Sunday, November 18, 2007. A Blind Man Can See How Much I Love You by Amy Bloom. A patron described her love of an Amy Bloom story to me a few months back. While describing it, you could tell that the story had really meant something to her, that the language had sung. After that I decided to work though my silly aversion to short story collections and give Bloom a try. Now I'm a convert. More Bloom for me soon! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The Gauge: February 2006

http://thegauge.blogspot.com/2006_02_01_archive.html

Friday, February 10, 2006. Friday is the new Tuesday! Here's to Mr. Smilingforth! So, yes. Lots of thinking, planning, rearranging, and knitting to be done now. I feel ready for it all. These next five years (I think) will prove to be my favorites yet. One of the best things about getting home? Smelling Lottie's stink.so GOOD! Oh, and for those of you who hate flying? I took Halcyon (sp? More Tuesday.or maybe sooner. Woot! Posted by Caitlin @ 2/10/2006 02:53:00 PM. Portland, Oregon, United States.

The Gauge: January 2006

http://thegauge.blogspot.com/2006_01_01_archive.html

Tuesday, January 24, 2006. Okay, honestly, I'm going to try to update more. But today something actually happened! I called my boss in New York and she bought me a ticket to fly to New York next week. Just like that! Just for the heck of it! Do you know how exciting this is? I can hardly believe it. I'm making a mental note of all my favorite places to go. A movie at The Angelika. Drinks at Frank's, cheap shopping at H&M, The Whitney. And Chinatown. Wa-HOO! And all my friends! I can't effing wait! And no...

The Soggy Librarian: May 2012

http://soggylibrarian.blogspot.com/2012_05_01_archive.html

Tuesday, May 29, 2012. I'm finished with teaching that class to the baby librarians. It was fun, and I would do it again, now that we've got a syllabus and lesson plans and lectures and everything. But man, it took a lot out of me. How do people do it, those people who regularly work 60 hour weeks? First I got a cold that lasted for weeks, then an attractive cold sore, and now, for the big finish: eye herpes. Yes, you read that correctly- eye herpes. It is a thing. Links to this post. The Soggy Librarian: Ruling

http://soggylibrarian.blogspot.com/2012/04/ruling.html

Friday, April 6, 2012. Today is ruling it. 1 Great news about my niece (she's healthy). 2 Great news about my friend (she got an awesome new job). 4 I have pleasant plans for the evening. 5 I'm off work this weekend. 7 It's supposed to continue sunny for at least one more day. 8 Which is good because we're taking Soren to an Easter egg hunt tomorrow. (I predict hilarity.). 9 That new pub in our neighborhood finally opened, and we went, and the food was good.*. Happy birthday, D. April 6, 2012 at 10:21 PM.

The Soggy Librarian: October 2011

http://soggylibrarian.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html

Wednesday, October 26, 2011. Soren is so magic right now. There are a lot of interesting people in the world, but I must tell you that I believe the vast majority of them are eighteen months old. Every day, new words! New levels of understanding about the world! New loves and hatreds! New tantrums to throw! It is an exciting time. Things he loves: being outside, reading books ("Bookies! Apples are okay though. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Blix Has a Blog. On the Other Hand.

The Soggy Librarian: June 2012

http://soggylibrarian.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html

Friday, June 15, 2012. C is for something or other. The six people who read this blog must be the nicest folks on earth. Thank you for your kind words. They meant a lot. I'm feeling better. I'm not really sick of my job so much as myself in my job? Something like that. But I felt a new surge of work-related energy this week. I didn't get to take full advantage of it, because I had to stay home again with a sick Soren, but still. By the way, I was not wrong about getting fatter- I weigh four pounds more t...

The Soggy Librarian: best day

http://soggylibrarian.blogspot.com/2012/08/best-day.html

Friday, August 3, 2012. Today on my lunch break I went to Nordstrom to get fitted for a bra. I have never done this, even though I'm a grown-ass woman and I've seen the Oprah about you really have to because you're definitely not wearing the right size and you OWE it to yourself to be comfortable AND look great. Plus Tim Gunn has been on about it for years. Sophisticated items in this department now") bummed me out. I was anticipating being told that I couldn't shop at the big girl store. Blix Has a Blog.

The Soggy Librarian: March 2011

http://soggylibrarian.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html

Monday, March 28, 2011. From the technology news desk. Soren is so much fun to hang out with these days. There were days not too long ago when I would drop him off at daycare without much regret, grateful to have a ticket back to Grownup Land. But now! He's so interested in everything, and almost. Walking, and not quite talking. I'm missing so much. Also, he cries when I leave, which sucks. What if his first step and first word both happen at daycare? Probably not very impressive.
