Arrived at Fairfax Hospital @ 2am. Was 2cm dilated at Triage. Felt first contraction @ 2:30am. Received Epidural @ 3:20am. Was 3cm dilated at 6am. Was 5cm dilated at 10am. Received Pitocin @ 10:30am. Was 8cm dilated at 2pm. Was 10cm dilated at 4:45pm. Pushed for a little over 2 hours. Alaina was born at 7:01pm.

Friday, August 28, 2009. Shawn and I took the Baby Care Class at the hospital last night. I asked quite a few people whether they recommend this class and I got mixed feedbacks. Since neither Shawn or I have much experience with babies, I decided to sign us up. The class was about 3 hours long and I am so glad we took it! Some of the things we went over in class were:. Different ways to hold the baby (hands-on practice). Swaddling the baby (hands-on-practice). What to do for a baby that cries/colic babies.

Its a peaceful feeling knowing that your baby is "fully baked" and now its time to just coast until labor/delivery. Today is also hubby's 32nd Birthday. This past Friday we had our 16 week checkup which was very brief and routine. The doctor checked the baby's heartbeat and they drew additional blood for the secondary part of the screening. Our baby's heartbeat dropped to 159-164 (at 12 weeks the rate was at 170) which is all normal. The exciting part was that I was able to schedule my Ultrasound for the gender test! So the othe...
