Christine had slowly changed from knowing she was loved and protected to believing we, her family, were her enemy. She did not comprehend our efforts to find help for her. She thought we were trying to punish her for her erratic thoughts and fears. Trying to focus on what direction to try next, what resources could possibly be available for us was like stumbling through a grit filled dustorm.

She handed a pamphlet to the therapist . “Christine has every one of these symptoms”. The pamplet was titled “Understanding schizophrenia”. Day’s later when she insisted there were dead bodies buried in the patio and demanded I get a shovel to dig them up and “free them”, that I coaxed Christine into my car. With her brother and sister sitting on either side of her so she wouldn’t jump out of the moving vehicle, we drove from one mental health facility to another in the Phoenix area. We are housebound because it’s raining and because my daughter is “under the weather.”. There’s very little to do. My dog is mack home with my son. (not excuse to walk). The Kid and Weasel Dog. Stories and poems to share ideas. We went on a whale watching boat. Fran and I took a wale watching boat ride while in San Diego. We were lucky enough to be out on an exceptional day. We say a small group of 3 or 4 whales doing their thing. We saw three whales fluke at the same time plus many other neat sites. We were close enough to hear the whales blow out air when they surfaced. We also saw two different types of dolphins and some sealions. It was 3 hours well spent.
