Focus on the Following. Missional. family. life. The Ultimate Guide for Making Excuses to God. The Most Important Lesson I’ve Learned From a 3-Year Old →. What’s stopping you? What’s stopping your community? Are the situational possibilities too risky for action, or are the possible situations from your inaction too risky? Words, as a result of you and your community doing nothing, will housing, academics, and parent/child relationships actually improve at the elementary school down the road? These disci...

Sunday, September 25, 2011. A Celebration of Anniversaries. Well this year was a bit more tough to get out and enjoy an amazing anniversary since I am still on bed-rest. We did manage to come up with a few fun things to do however! Here's a quick look at the last 5 anniversaries we celebrated. A CELEBRATION OF ANNIVERSARIES! On our 5th Anniversary - We enjoyed a day in Melbourne. Eating yummy sushi, and then returned home to enjoy watching "Tomorrow When the War Began" at the Gold Class Theatre. ...For o...

Faith, life, sports and whatever interests me. Monday, May 5, 2014. Be thou my vision. One of my fave songs of all time played by one of the most fantastic guitar players I've ever listened to. the song doesn't really begin until 3 minutes in and there is a control freak thing that Roby gets on about no clapping for his songs but it's all an amazing piece that makes me want to learn it myself. just watch how the man plays that tune, that's all him. very cool. Enjoy I know I always have. Of wool and water.

Faith, life, sports and whatever interests me. Wednesday, May 29, 2013. Sure hope this works, it's been a long time since i've figured out how to do this. Wednesday, May 15, 2013. Oh to live in contentedness. actually, i do live in contentedness. i'm happy where i am but i also want to see growth in this plant that is earthed in fertile ground with a temperate climate and a caregiver who wants good things for me. No more magic genie stuff though. give me balance God. Monday, May 13, 2013. Baseball season...

Everyday Theology by Patrick Oden. Task of a theologian. The Transformative Church Interview. A few weeks ago, I did an interview with Cory Piña for the Fuller Seminary website. That’s only accessible to students, staff, faculty, and alumni, so I asked if I could repost it here. Cory graciously said yes (well, he actually said, “You are absolutely welcome to! 8221;). So here it is. Enjoy! Patrick recently had a book published, representing the work of his PhD thesis. It’s called. CORY: Am I right that.

Everyday Theology by Patrick Oden. Sorrow of God →. Stepped off the boat. I was lost. I had no words of hope of my own. I did not know where to turn or who to turn to. But I still tried to pray, to hear from God what I was supposed to do. On January 15, 2003 I was sitting on the small back porch of this apartment, and I wrote the following in my journal. It came to mind again today, so I’m posting it here:. I am Peter stepped out of the boat, “Lord, Save me! Time is swallowing me! 8220;Time flows, but I ...

Everyday Theology by Patrick Oden. The Transformative Church Interview. Holiness and the Holy Spirit →. I was on a bit of a roll there for a bit, posting more frequently than I had for a while. Then it happened: life. I’m a contemplative, highly introverted and so socially sensitive. That makes being a teacher a rewarding, yet draining, experience. My batteries get low, and then at the end of a long and very busy season I barely have time to recharge just a bit before jumping into the next thing. I'm Pat...

Everyday Theology by Patrick Oden. In storms and squalls we need a pilot, and in this present life we need prayer; for we are susceptible to the provocations of our thoughts, both good and bad. If our thought is full of devotion and love of God, it rules over the passions.”. 8220;Bad citation formatting is a bit like going to a business meeting wearing a shirt with a big ketchup stain on it. It’s not essential for the content of the meeting, but it always help to look as neat as possible.”. Suppose Homer...

Everyday Theology by Patrick Oden. Being Freed to Liberate Others. Considering liberation of the oppressor →. This is something I wrote in 2003, reposted at a high moment in 2011. And as I came across it again this evening, it asked to be reposted, this a time where life once more seems fairly hazy. Promise-Faith-Fulfillment, and parts between. I am Peter stepped out of the boat, Lord, Save me! Time is swallowing me! Time flows, but I am the one both in and out of time. Do not look to those trapped f...

Everyday Theology by Patrick Oden. Newer posts →. Ever since Fuller announced they are closing their Sacramento campus, I’ve been thinking a lot about the future of seminary education. Online is the growth area in higher education. Regional campuses are not seen the same way. I taught both online and at Sacramento this past year. My online courses would fill up and have waiting lists within a few days of open registration. This is not uncommon. My Sac classes would never fill and would take a...Students ...
