Elder Joseph Garrett

Monday, June 9, 2014. I guess this is the last email I will send you as a full time missionary in Chile. I'll take advantage of this opportunity to share a last testimony to you as a missionary. It's basically the same thing I shared when I shared my testimony to say goodbye last Thursday in Zone Conference. When we step forward with faith, God paves the way. Even when the mist of darkness is so thick that we can't see the path ahead. This is my testimony, simply and perhaps poorly stated, but it's mine.

Elder Joseph Garrett: TWO WEEKS!!

http://www.missionexperiences.blogspot.com/2014/06/two-weeks.html

Monday, June 2, 2014. I've only got two weeks left! La Laguna del Inca . Portillo. They played in the snow that wasn't man made and said that it almost reached their knees. I think they were exaggerating. haha. It snowed about two weeks ago, so the snow wasn't exactly fresh. But they got to play in the snow, and that was what mattered. While they tried and failed to do a snow man, we ate lunch. Haha. In the man made snow. I'm looking forward to getting home and seeing you all. View my complete profile.

Elder Joseph Garrett: November 2013

http://www.missionexperiences.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html

Monday, November 25, 2013. Today we did a zone activity in the Stake President's house. We played soccer and did a barbecue. We were about 20 missionaries. It was pretty fun. Monday, November 18, 2013. Salvation is Not a Cheap Experience. This was a great week. As I told you on Monday, I did a one week long exchange with Elder Hart in his sector. It was really awesome, I had a great time, and learned a lot from him. He also quoted Elder Perry in saying that this time period is equally important historica...

The Bolaños Family: November 2009

http://thebolanosfamily.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html

10 Boys and Counting . . . Saturday, November 28, 2009. Santa Maria del Tule. El Tule is a gargantuan Mexican cypress, probably the massive tree in Latin America. Its gnarled, house-size trunk divides into a forest of elphantine limbs that rise to bushy branches reaching 15 stories overhead" (Bruce Whipperman, "Oaxaca"). In 2005, its trunk had a circumference of 119 feet, a slight increase from a measurement of 37.5 ft in 1982. However, the trunk is heavily. Would also support this" (Wikipedia). Ricardo ...

Life is always a journey with Lisa.: Ordination

http://lisaholmlund.blogspot.com/2009/06/ordination.html

Life is always a journey with Lisa. Tuesday, June 30, 2009. I am sitting in my office on this first day back to work after I have now been ordained. I found the article that shared about my ordination service. I am posting it here so I don't forget about it. One of the highlights for me was having my dad be the one to pray over me during the service. You can see us together in the third picture below that was on the Covenant Website. The Bolaños Family: 4 Months Old

http://thebolanosfamily.blogspot.com/2011/03/4-months-old.html

10 Boys and Counting . . . Wednesday, March 9, 2011. Today Micah is four months old. I can't believe how quickly time goes by. We have already been back in Oaxaca for two months, which is how much time we spent in Washington for Micah's birth. And can we believe it's already March 2011. I feel like the new year just began. I guess when you're extremely busy, time goes by more quickly. I love that we are developing a routine. So our average day looks something like this:. 6am Feeding and wake up. So our d...

http://thebolanosfamily.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html

10 Boys and Counting . . . Thursday, May 21, 2009. We missed mother’s day because of the “swine flu epidemic.” Which was such a bummer.  . So we had to celebrate a little late. In our effort to honor the kid’s mothers mom or grandma. It was quite an event since it was our first day back after not having class for over a week. Nothing like jumping in with both feet, right? 10 Boys and Counting . . . Sunday, December 27, 2009. The Week Of Christmas! Christmas Day was yesterday, and it is just now that I am able to sit down and rethink the week. The week leading up to this special day has been a long one. Christmastime here at the children’s home is full of activity and emotion. The big activities started last Saturday when Jill and I took 13 children shopping for their Christmas presents. Finally when the party is slowing down everyone goes to bed. All the parents and f...

The Bolaños Family: March 2010

http://thebolanosfamily.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html

10 Boys and Counting . . . Monday, March 15, 2010. When I was 17 I spent six weeks at a children's home in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico. I served there as an intern. The most profound moments I spent there, was when I watched three children leave the home. And in that moment, I had thought to myself, "how can she just let them drive away like that? She loved them and invested so much into them. And now, they are gone.". No one else sees much good in him, and I just feel bad. I tried to assure him th...

10 Boys and Counting . . . Monday, April 25, 2011. So yesterday was Easter, and I must say that I am yet to celebrate a holiday in Mexico the same way we celebrate in the States. The holidays are so different here and Easter is no exception. I asked one of my boys about why Easter is not a big deal? Ricardo and Andrea Bolanos. Wednesday, April 13, 2011. New Expectations

Friday, March 21, 2014. Answering Prayers through the Spirit. So I know I've been slacking. but hey, I've been busy! 1) Sebahat, our Turkish investigator, got baptized on Sunday! The best part is that she doesn't speak a lick of English, and that our translator is a 5 month convert himself. It really shows that even though we can't speak directly to her, the Spirit testifies at moments of truth. 3) I now have more options that we are trying that may solve my sleep issues! Wednesday, March 12, 2014. Would...
