Monday, August 15, 2011. A nice flower that also makes a nice painting. I added the bud from another picture and I think it compliments and makes the painting more interesting. This painting is a watercolour and is painted on Arches water colour board, a relatively new offering from Arches. It is watercolour paper with a type of matt board backing. The size is 16 by 20 and doesn't need to be stretched. James R. Pearson, Artist. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). James R. Pearson, Artist.

Splash & Paint: October 2008
http://splashandpaint.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html
Sunday, October 19, 2008. Eskimo Stroll at 50 Below. This particular painting was painted from a photo that was taken near Pele Bay which is near Hudson's Bay in the eastern Arctic. You can tell that this day is very cold because of the way the parkas are pulled tight around their faces. It was probably in the neighbourhood of 50 to 60 degrees below zero and that is without windchill added to the temperature. This painting won first prize at the Allied Arts Council Open Art Competition.

Splash & Paint: Purple Bearded Iris
http://splashandpaint.blogspot.com/2012/03/purple-bearded-iris.html
Saturday, March 31, 2012. I didn't get back to the painting for nearly a. After many false starts and repairs-which is really easy with acrylic gouache because you can paint over any mistake or whatever you don't like, unlike watercolour. On the right the finished painting. Not perfect but not too bad. I think I'll try more paintings in this medium. Hope you like it? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). James R. Pearson, Artist.
