Saturday, June 5, 2010. A l'hôpital (aka - At the hospital). For 2 days, this past Thursday and Friday, I was back in "my element." To a degree, I should say. With the help of a fellow nurse in my home Bible study group I was able to arrange a couple days to shadow her at work. This was my inside glimpse into the Swiss medical system and also a chance to see all of the gaps I had in my French medical lingo. A few things really stand out to me from my experience there. Tuesday, October 16, 2012. I just had to share this since (for me) it was a great morning to wake up to. Not weather-wise, since it is raining, raining, raining.but that's the UK for you! It was a VERY exciting morning because I had to look what was inside of this (see picture below). This grand experiment was incubating all night next to my radiator and I was hoping it would be what I wanted in the morning. And voila! I actually made my own homemade yogurt - how cool and domestic is that?

Friday, May 21, 2010. From time to time something, let's just say "slightly out of the ordinary," will catch my eye here in Switzerland. Then I think, "Hmmmm, this is normal. Here but incredibly hilarious" to me, at least! My favorite of all time is the magazine stand I walk by on my way home after school. My eye always lands on the magazine titled "Psycho." The lady on the front looks normal, but that's what they all say! Then there's the pedestrian crossing sign that sports a gentleman in a derby hat.

Monday, August 9, 2010. This title may shock you.but no, it wasn't me that did any baking. :) Mandi and I "inherited" one of those baking mixes-in-a-jar contraptions from someone here. The only catch was that person didn't have the directions as to what other ingredients to add or how long to bake it, or to even tell us what we were making. It was quite the mystery! Oh well, better luck next time and maybe some directions would be helpful too! It was still a fun surprise to see how they would turn out.

It is not unique to being in another country. It happens to people all over the world. I can honestly say that I feel more freedom in my life now than I ever have before. My desire to do right and help others is all encompassing and giving God the glory rather than taking it for myself is actually quite gratifying.
