The art of Louise MacIntosh-Watson. Experimentation with vibrant colour and mark making. Batik ('ba-teek') is a traditional technique of creating imagery using layers of hot wax and coloured dyes on fabric. Louise is an active member of the UK's Batik Guild. She describes herself as a contemporary batik artist as she uses this technique on paper giving her batiks a modern twist. It is increasingly rare to see good contemporary Batik work in modern art galleries and Louise's aim is to challenge this.
