Miss Smith at Home: April 2015
http://misssmithathome.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Friday, April 17, 2015. All about the blues (and greens). You know, the internet provides the impetus to progress all sorts of projects. I don't just mean tutorials about how to do this or that, which are very useful I'll grant you, but also just the odd throw-away comment that suddenly resolves a problem and moves a project along. Anyway, I was reading one of my favourite crafty blogs, Cozy things. And binding (perhaps black or red stripes? Feel free to share your opinion. Links to this post. View my co...
Miss Smith at Home: August 2013
http://misssmithathome.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html
Monday, August 19, 2013. Joe and Cornelius, and parental obligations. I was tickled magenta to recieve that, I really was. The short time frame to complete those relatively large sewing projects was actually very good for me. It made me wonder why I don't do things for my children or myself unless a fire is lit underneath me. So, as soon as the sewing machine was packed away, I resumed work on a project that had been dead on the needles for more than a year: Joe and Cornelius. Links to this post. Joe and...
Miss Smith at Home: Nine little words
http://misssmithathome.blogspot.com/2014/12/nine-little-words.html
Wednesday, December 10, 2014. I've got nine words for you, and they are "Fa la la la la la la la la". Christmas is fast approaching and I feel strangely relaxed. Normally there is that free-floating anxiety, the one that forms into "Have I remembered everything? Is there anyone I've forgotten to get a present for? Do I have to bring a plate to the end-of-year do for [enter function name here]? In the weekend the kids set up the nativity set, which I found one year at the junk shop. Here are my ones, a li...
Miss Smith at Home: October 2013
http://misssmithathome.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html
Sunday, October 27, 2013. It's all busy-busy-busy round here. In fact, here is a list of the things I "haven't had time" to do in the last month or so: finish painting the front door, tidy away the two piles of papers either side of my computer, read that novel beside my bed, ring that tradesman to do that job that needs doing, decide what shoes I'm going to wear to M's wedding, etc. But guess what I DID find time to do: Make monster babies. Yes that's right, monster babies. Links to this post. Grantham ...
Miss Smith at Home: Shirty
http://misssmithathome.blogspot.com/2015/03/shirty.html
Tuesday, March 31, 2015. Goodness, summer just went on and on in this part of the world, and it's only just dawned on me that it's on the way out. Nonetheless, it must be autumn, because I started to feel like a lamb roast for dinner, a bucket of feijoas arrived on my back doorstep, and I felt like updating my blog. First up, I've made a shirt. New Look 6598. The standless collar shows off the seersucker pattern rather well. Also, paying the extra money for good-quality woven interfacing has made the...

Sweeney's Mama: Chemistry
http://angelarothwell.blogspot.com/2011/09/chemistry.html
Saturday, 24 September 2011. Did you know that this is the Year of Chemistry. Well, it is. And to celebrate, the Royal Society are behind a project called Knit the Periodic Table. Yes, you read that right. A bunch of us needle wielders have knitted a square each. Mine's Uranium. I chose it. Here it is, at top right, with a bunch of other great elements . I'm looking forward to seeing it all put together. Typically, I have no clue when that might happen, or where it'll be . 25 September 2011 at 10:48 PM.

A parcel a week: A good enough life.......
http://aparcelaweek.blogspot.com/2011/03/good-enough-life.html
A parcel a week. Saturday, March 26, 2011. A good enough life. So what makes life good enough. I've been thinking about this and this week have had plenty of opportunities to think about what that means in practice. Well for me it is making the most of everything even when everything is imperfect. SO here's to a good enough week. Labels: green tomato pickle. March 27, 2011 at 1:18 AM. The title of this blog is really depressing. I think I just will die if my life ends up being only good enough. A...Since...

Creative Endeavors in a Busy Life: March 2012
http://craftingmamalibrarian.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
Creative Endeavors in a Busy Life. Sunday, March 18, 2012. Did you think I could resist these? We had the Winter That Wasn't and now are having some lovely, warm days. The sun is strong, no leaves on the trees, so when you are outside it can feel very tiring this time of year. Notice the careful, wide-legged stance! Also, some friends visited (baby feet, pictured above) and we caught up and played games and made yummy food (dehydrated kale chips were delicious, even Jonas admits it! A Sew Groovy Chick.

ALL THIS TROUBLE: They've Never Been To The Zoo !?!?!?
http://allthistroublejusttoleaveacomment.blogspot.com/2012/02/theyve-never-been-to-zoo.html
Saturday, February 25, 2012. They've Never Been To The Zoo! No, not until now. I enjoyed spending time with the kids and their friends. I'm just not a BIG fan of zoos. The hippie in me thinks "habitats" are depressing. The kids thought the flamingos were too smelly. Look how they lean. Sam did a great job on his first rock wall! Logan was never able to climb more than shoulder high. Sam was unsure at first but the lady helping them was on his side. She would yell, "You got this, Slim! And he DID get it!

Our trees are being axed on Tuesday. And replaced with low-growing magnolias. Henry was quite philosophical…and accepted that was one letter-writing campaign he was never going to win. And magnolias, well they’ll look really pretty in the spring. May 29, 2013 · 10:38 pm. It’s widely admired wherever it goes. And then very sensibl...

http://aparcelaweek.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html
A parcel a week. Saturday, February 19, 2011. The blog that languished . I would never have thought that it was possible. I am reminded that you always need a lot less than you think and that applies not just to plots of land. That's my garlic crop - grown from the bulbs Miriam gave me last winter. I think that will keep me going for a month or two at least. Heres to a week of no plans. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Miss Smith at Home
Wednesday, February 24, 2016. Hello again, if you are still out there that is. I'm amazed if anyone still visits here. What a lovely summer it's been. I've been far too busy enjoying life to be mucking around on my blog, I'll tell you that for free. I've had all sorts of adventures of the making-stuff kind, preserving lots of fruit and making pasta sauce and sewing dresses for myself. But lets talk about all of that later. Right now I'd rather talk about dress ups. I promised her that I'd make a set of V...
