Keeping My Eyes on the Road: April 2015
http://keepingmyeyesontheroad.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Keeping My Eyes on the Road. Causes We Care About. Friday, April 3, 2015. Walk Your Own Path. I stressed endlessly after their diagnoses. Scoured the internet for hours upon hours intoxicated by my need for information. Read every book on the subject I could find. Educated myself on sensory diets and pinned endless numbers of sensory activities and bins. Made myself sick with worry over it. So I threw the labels out the window and we are simply just the Horn Family. This is just how we roll. 3 When the w...

Keeping My Eyes on the Road. Causes We Care About. Thursday, April 2, 2015. How to put your kids to bed in 15 easy steps. 1 Starting at 6:00, watch the clock and swear it moves slower than molasses. 2 At 6:05, check 3 other clocks to ensure that the one on the stove is indeed working. 4 Record yourself saying, "water stays in the bathtub." Play it on repeat. 7 Give the kids their jammies and tell them to go brush their teeth. 7 Go get another pair of jammies because those are "too scratchy". 10 Find toot...

Keeping My Eyes on the Road: Boobies
http://keepingmyeyesontheroad.blogspot.com/2012/10/boobies.html
Keeping My Eyes on the Road. Causes We Care About. Tuesday, October 16, 2012. In honor of breast cancer awareness month, I decided to write this post about boobies or bresticles, or tatas, or whatever you call them. I call mine thelma and louise. To each their own. And my preschooler is fascinated by titties. Probably because everywhere she looks there's a shirt, poster, or picture promoting some form of knocker awareness. As all you mommas know, there is no such thing as privacy when you're a parent.

Keeping My Eyes on the Road: Teaching Girls Self Worth
http://keepingmyeyesontheroad.blogspot.com/2012/02/teaching-girls-self-worth.html
Keeping My Eyes on the Road. Causes We Care About. Wednesday, February 29, 2012. Teaching Girls Self Worth. One of my biggest priorities, as a mother of girls, is to instill a strong core of self worth, self esteem, self love, and self respect. This harsh world, with it's intense focus on appearances, will constantly try to tear my beautiful babies down and I believe no other lesson I teach them will be as important to their emotional and mental health. Princess in da house! Clear your mind, now's the ti...

Keeping My Eyes on the Road: December 2013
http://keepingmyeyesontheroad.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html
Keeping My Eyes on the Road. Causes We Care About. Monday, December 9, 2013. Mommy Martial Law (Pinterest Parenting Fail #2). The excitement of the holiday season can bring smiles, laughter, joy and moments you want to remember forever. The change in routine, however, can also turn your adorable little toddlers into screaming little dictators with a short man syndrome more contagious than yawing. This was the end result. Eat your heart out, Martha. You see that broken curtain rod? OMG While I appreciate ...

Keeping My Eyes on the Road. Causes We Care About. Monday, October 13, 2014. Birthday Parties and Princesses. Miss Chatterbox has an obsession. Her Birthday. Which she has mentioned every single day, multiple times a day, in the 199 days since her last birthday. I am in awe of her steadfast, single minded determination to party like it's 1999. But, y'all, I'm partied the heck out and it has nothing to do with the extracurricular activities of my twenties, youknowwhatI'msaying? I'd smack dat a$! So if I d...

Keeping My Eyes on the Road. Causes We Care About. Saturday, November 30, 2013. Soap Scum, Ewww. So, I have a problem. One that has been annoying the bejezus out of me. Soap scum. Black nasty soap scum, to be specific. Ugh. Nothing makes me feel more like a crappy housekeeper than a dirty bathtub. The Firefighter finally returned to shift yesterday, so I decided today was the day I was gonna make the dirty tub mah bitch. I pulled out the big guns - bleach, rubber gloves, and scrub brush. Y'all, I tried e...

Keeping My Eyes on the Road: What Happens when you Fat Shame Parents in Front of their Kids?
http://keepingmyeyesontheroad.blogspot.com/2014/11/what-happens-with-you-fat-shame-parents.html
Keeping My Eyes on the Road. Causes We Care About. Wednesday, November 5, 2014. What Happens when you Fat Shame Parents in Front of their Kids? As a mother of 3 daughters, one of my primary goals is to instill a solid, healthy body image, with self esteem to spare, so they are prepared to do battle with a world determined to tear them down. We are not perfect parents. We fail, spectacularly, at other parenting type things. (Need proof? Because, apparently, a skinny corpse has more value than a fat one.
