Sunday, 5 April 2009. 625g strong white flour. 45g golden caster sugar, plus 2 extra tbsp. 1 tsp each salt. 1 tsp ground cinnamon. 1/4 tsp ground allspice. 1/4 tsp grated nutmeg. 11/2 tsp fast-action dried yeast. 275ml milk, plus 4 extra tbsp. 25g chopped mixed peel. Oil, for greasing. Meanwhile, put the extra milk and extra sugar into a pan. Heat gently to dissolve the sugar, then boil for 2-3 minutes until syrupy. Brush the glaze over the warm buns. Transfer to a wire rack to cool.

Monday, 6 April 2009. Mmmmmmm we all love chocolate and the best time to enjoy it is the Easter holiday. A holiday hell bent on loading your hips with chocolate delights. Easter eggs are the order of the day, so get the big and little kids involved in the chocolate holiday. 4 table spoons hot water. 280 ml whipping cream, whipped. On the stove, put together the marshmallows and the butter and the chocolate the hot water until the marshmallows and the chocolate have melted down. Cool for 1 hour.

Monday, 30 March 2009. New Years Eve in Swissy. So far not much snow, but quite a hectic and fun filled Christmas. It was our first New Years Eve together and we chilled out most of the day and couldnt really make up our minds whether to go out in the evening or snuggle up with a nice bottle of wine and see the New Year in alone. God’s Everyday miracles. She was only seventeen; an orphan, arriving by way of a refugee camp to perch guardedly on our locally-made furniture. Her severe abuse still seemed to embalm her in its haze: near silence, no eye contact and closed body language. After the second visit with us,she began to smile and she eased into conversation.
