Tomorrow belongs to our children. Knowledge will set them free. When children are interested in what they are learning, they will retain the knowledge longer. To keep their interest I will employ hands on learning as well as apply real life situations to the curriculum. Themes, individual and group work, units that flow smoothly from one subject to another, and active projects are all methods that can keep a child‘s attention. The classroom is a community. To maintain a positive classroom environment, I have found that the following things are essential. Children work better by rewards. In my classroom, I plan to reward positive behaviour to provide good models for students who would choose to break a rule. Finally, I came to the realization that my future is not in the computer industry. I have finally returned to teaching, and have never been happier. Every time I step into the classroom, it reinforces that I made the right decision to pursue my teaching degree. I have not abandoned my computer experience, but instead use it as an aide for the classroom. Misty R. Long.
